Beta Centauri
The Beta Centauri ("Hadar") system per A Gift From The Stars (2020): a triple system (Hadar A1, Hadar A2 and Hadar B) whose Noor-Lyran colony, the Dahl, named its worlds Dahlnor 1 and Dahlnor 2.
Beta Centauri (locally Hadar) is a triple star system in the constellation Centaurus, several hundred light-years from Earth, identified in Elena Danaan's A Gift From The Stars (2020) as the home of the Dahl, a humanoid Noor colony of Lyran descent. Danaan's diagram of the system labels its three stars Hadar A1 (with six planets), Hadar A2 (with five planets) and Hadar B, and names two of the colonised worlds Dahlnor 1 and Dahlnor 2.
The Dahl and Dahlnor
According to A Gift From The Stars, Beta Centauri shelters a great diversity of life-forms - reptilians, amphibians and insectoids - spread across seventeen planets in total, all at a "sub-civilization level." A humanoid Noor colony from Lyra settled the system and flourished but, unlike most Lyran-descended peoples, chose to remain outside the affairs of the galaxy: they did not join the Galactic Federation of Worlds and live as an independent entity in harmony with the system's other species. The system is "severely guarded and considered as an unspoiled haven of peace."
The colonists took their name, the Dahl, from the captain of the ark that brought them to the system - their "legendary commander Dahel" - and named the world they settled Dahlnor. As Noor, the Dahl belong to the same tall, fair humanoid lineage as the Meton of neighbouring Proxima Centauri - one of the four original racial groups (Ahel, Noor, Taal and Laan) that fled the Man system during the Lyran Wars.
Relationship to the Centaurian systems
In A Gift From The Stars the three Centaurus-region systems closest to Earth are grouped together as homes of humanoid spacefaring peoples of Lyran descent: the Selosians of Alpha Centauri B, the Meton of Proxima Centauri, and the Dahl of Beta Centauri. Elena Danaan has characterised the Centaurian peoples generally as resembling humans - "mainly blonde and fair-skinned" - and as members of, or aligned with, the Galactic Federation of Worlds who are nonetheless "not really active" with respect to Terra; the Beta Centauri Noor are the most withdrawn of the three, remaining outside the Federation entirely.
Mainstream astronomical context
Beta Centauri - also called Hadar or Agena - is one of the brightest stars in the night sky and the second-brightest point of the constellation Centaurus after Alpha Centauri. In conventional astronomy it is a triple system dominated by two B-type giant stars, lying several hundred light-years from Earth, far more distant than the naked-eye-neighbouring Alpha Centauri with which it appears paired as the "Pointers" to the Southern Cross. Its enormous true distance makes the A Gift From The Stars framing of it as a near-Earth Lyran colony a claim with no basis in mainstream astrophysics.
