Interdimensional beings (also called extradimensional beings) are entities that exist in, originate from, or move between different densities or dimensions of reality beyond the standard four-dimensional spacetime continuum, distinct from conventional extraterrestrial beings (who originate from other planets within a single density). Some are native to higher densities who visit lower-density physical reality; others are entities from parallel dimensional planes that intersect with physical space, appearing within human experience from a substrate that differs in fundamental physical law from known space. They are the entities posited by the interdimensional hypothesis (IDH) — central to Jacques Vallée's work, John Keel's ultraterrestrial hypothesis, and Hal Puthoff's 2022 paper Ultraterrestrials Models — as the operators of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), as against the extraterrestrial beings of the extraterrestrial hypothesis, and have also been invoked to explain cryptid phenomena and historically reported supernatural entities.

The two labels denote the same referent through different vocabularies: "inter-" emphasizes movement between dimensions or densities, while "extra-" emphasizes origin beyond the standard 4D continuum — a distinction of density-language versus dimension-language rather than of substance. Researchers such as Greer and Salla suggest that interdimensional beings overlap with the entities variously called angels, demons and jinn, and with the spirit entities invoked to explain ghosts; that such beings are sometimes said to be contacted or summoned through ritual ceremonies; and that they are reported to share psychic and ESP faculties with humans and with many extraterrestrial beings.[citation needed] The category also overlaps with the interdimensional civilizations said to maintain societies across density boundaries.

Conceptual distinction from extraterrestrials

The Galactic Federation of Worlds' cosmology distinguishes between beings from other planets within the same density (extraterrestrials proper) and beings that move between densities or originate from other dimensional configurations. The Zenae use "etheric and interdimensional travel as well as time travel," placing them in the interdimensional category despite originating from a physical star system.

Entry mechanism

The proposed physical mechanism for extradimensional entry into observable spacetime is a local perturbation of the spacetime metric — the craft or entity "punch[ing] a hole in our four-dimensional continuum," appearing suddenly and disappearing without accelerating, by fading in place. This differentiates interdimensional beings from extraterrestrial beings arriving by interstellar spacecraft: the former need not traverse distance at all, while the latter would be subject to light-speed and energy constraints. Hal Puthoff's spacetime metric engineering framework models this as local manipulation of spacetime geometry, producing the observed flight characteristics of UAP as a secondary consequence of dimensional transit rather than conventional propulsion. Vallée has likewise described the UAP phenomenon as manifesting simultaneously in physical and psychic ways — "nuts and bolts, but it's also psychic" — consistent with an entity class that crosses dimensional boundaries and can produce effects on both material and psychological levels at once.

Physical description

Interdimensional beings are not described as having consistent physical form — by definition, their substrate differs from ordinary matter. The theoretical expectation is that they manifest within human-visible spacetime intermittently and with variable appearance, potentially presenting differently to different witnesses depending on cultural context, perceptual filtering, or the nature of the interaction.

The Anunnaki and dimensional portals

The Anunnaki's home planet Nibiru exists in a "parallel dimension"; their portal into the material galaxy is located in the Orion zone. This makes them technically interdimensional rather than purely extraterrestrial — originating from a different dimensional plane rather than a different planet within the same physical universe.

The Orion nebula portal

A singularity within the M42 nebula in Orion functions as an interdimensional portal — not a black hole, but a "doorway" between dimensional planes that has made the Orion zone strategically critical and bitterly contested between the Alpha Draconian Empire and the Orion Alliance.

Density-jumping species (Danaan taxonomy)

Elena Danaan's A Gift From The Stars catalogues several species using density-language rather than dimension-language, describing entities that are interstellar in physical origin yet interdimensional in their mode of travel and existence.

The Arcturians (Ohorai) exist primarily at 7th–9th densities but can choose to manifest in 3rd-density physical form. They are quintessential interdimensional beings: native to a high density, voluntary visitors to lower ones. The Giansar of Sigma Draconis are described as "a dimension-hopping sorcerer or priest class among the reptiloid species," specialists in crossing between dimensional planes through dark-ritual techniques.

The N'Torii, residing on the planet N'Tora in the Antarian system, are described as "9th and 11th density extradimensional beings" who never leave their planet geographically but "travel a lot using interdimensional consciousness resonance" — their structure is "humanoid based but purely etheric," and they manifest to other beings as "a bright light with filaments of etheric substance dancing around a barely, blinding bright, tall humanoid body." The N'Torii interact with the Galactic Federation of Worlds to assist in elevating and cleansing Earth's energetic grid — operating entirely through consciousness-based dimensional access rather than physical spacecraft.

The Akart interdimensional method

The Akart (Sextans constellation) possess an unusual interdimensional travel method that allows them to transfer their light-being and incarnated body between dimensions without the ability to simultaneously transport external objects — meaning their clothing cannot accompany them.

The Draco reptilians dimensional lockout

The Galactic Federation of Worlds has locked the Terra-based Draconians into the 3rd-dimensional plane, and separately blocked off-world Draconian reinforcements from penetrating the Terran solar system via an energy barrier at the system's outskirts.

Historical accounts

Puthoff's paper on ultraterrestrials cited the Renaissance-era case of physician Fazio Cardano (1491), who recorded that seven humanoid visitors dressed in "silken garments resembling Greek togas" appeared and described themselves as "men composed as it were of air and subject to birth and death" with lifespans of up to 300 years. The description — beings existing in a substrate "of air," finite but long-lived, appearing in culturally recognisable dress — is read by ultraterrestrial hypothesis proponents as a historically consistent account of inter-dimensional contact in pre-modern cultural idiom.

Vallée's Passport to Magonia (1969) documented this pattern across centuries: modern UAP entities, Victorian and Edwardian fairy encounters, medieval accounts of demonic apparition, and ancient accounts of divine visitation all share the structural features expected of interdimensional beings — sudden appearance and disappearance, the ability to pass through solid objects, apparent awareness of human thought, and a tendency to communicate in the witness's own language.

Predicted signatures

Puthoff's 2022 paper identifies predictable signatures for the extradimensional / time-traveller variant, including: instantaneous appearance and disappearance of beings; witness accounts of portal access to alternate realities; beings appearing anachronistic in dress, language, or technology; and evidence of advanced foreknowledge consistent with temporal displacement.

Jinn and folkloric parallels

The interdimensional being category overlaps with multiple Terran folkloric traditions. The Giansar's "dimension-hopping" and dark ritual practices correspond closely to descriptions of the Arabic/Islamic concept of jinn, and the Telosii — vibrating in "a slightly higher density" from their underground habitats — correspond to traditions of hidden people, sidhe, or the "shining ones" in Celtic mythology.

Government contact with interdimensional entities

Jacques Vallée disclosed in 2025 that credible sources had informed him of ongoing structured communication programs between government specialists and non-human entities at classified facilities. Vallée described these entities as potentially "the controllers... the higher level entity," suggesting a tier of intelligence above the beings typically encountered in physical craft or field encounters. He characterized the interaction as sophisticated and complex — consistent with the hypothesis that the communicating entities are not extraterrestrial in the conventional sense but operate at a level that makes standard ETH categories inadequate. Because the entities were encountered in a ground facility rather than arriving aboard a vehicle, the setting is read as consistent with interdimensional contact rather than extraterrestrial visitation.
