Enki

Enki — also known as Ea in the Akkadian tradition — is, in Sumerian mythology, the god of wisdom, water, magic, crafts, and creation, patron deity of the city of Eridu, and one of the principal figures of the ancient Mesopotamian pantheon. In the alternative extraterrestrial reading developed by Zecharia Sitchin and expanded in contact accounts by Elena Danaan and researchers including Michael Salla and Michael Tellinger, Enki is a senior Anunnaki geneticist — son of Anu, half-brother of Enlil — credited with engineering the Homo sapiens genome, protecting humanity during the Deluge, and returning to the solar system in recent decades as part of the liberation of humanity from Enlil-faction control. His nature is variously described as a long-lived flesh-and-blood being, a higher-density intelligence, or an archetype, and he is held to be identified under many names across cultures — securely with the Akkadian Ea, and more speculatively with figures such as Ptah, Oannes, and Poseidon (see Cross-cultural identity, below).

Sumerian and Akkadian tradition

In the Sumerian sources Enki is lord of the abzu (the subterranean freshwater ocean) and patron of Eridu, the oldest city in Sumer. He is depicted in temple iconography with streams of water — and sometimes fish — flowing from his shoulders, symbolising his dominion over fresh water and the fertility it brings. He is credited in the Atrahasis Epic with fashioning humanity from clay and divine blood to relieve the lesser gods of their labour, and in the Enuma Elish and related hymns he is the divine craftsman who gave humanity the arts of civilisation — writing, agriculture, metallurgy, and law. His Akkadian name, Ea, carried the same associations into the Babylonian and Assyrian pantheons.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Atrahasis, Enki plays a central role according to Flood: when the god Enlil resolves to destroy humanity with a catastrophic deluge, Enki warns the survivor — called Utnapishtim in the Gilgamesh tradition and Atrahasis in the older text — enabling the preservation of life and knowledge.

Alternative extraterrestrial interpretation

Origins and role among the Anunnaki

In the framework elaborated by Zecharia Sitchin and developed further in contact accounts, Enki is one of the two primary sons of Anu, ruler of Nibiru and commander of the Anunnaki expedition to Earth. Anu divided authority between his sons: Enki, a master geneticist, was assigned the task of creating a sufficiently intelligent hominid workforce to assist the Anunnaki in their terrestrial gold mining operations, while Enlil, a military commander, controlled the space fleets governing Anunnaki colonies on Earth, Mars, and elsewhere in the solar system.

According to Elena Danaan, Enki initially resisted the assignment but accepted out of scientific curiosity — and when he examined the Homo erectus genome he discovered an extraordinary density of intergalactic DNA already embedded within these primates. This discovery led him to secretly redirect the project toward empowering, rather than limiting, the nascent human species — an act described as "the start of big troubles" within Anunnaki command.

The Anunnaki are described by Danaan as themselves a hybrid species originating from the Sirius B star system — a fusion of human and grey-type genetics — who consider themselves fully human and refer to themselves variously as Anunnaki or Taku.

Genetic engineering and the Adam prototype: role of Ninhursag

Enki is described in this account as the Anunnaki scientist responsible for the genetic modification of Homo erectus into Homo sapiens, creating a workforce for the Anunnaki's extensive gold mining operations in Southern Africa — operations whose physical traces, including ancient mine shafts and stone enclosures, have been documented by researcher Michael Tellinger at sites such as Adam's Calendar. The decisive breakthrough in the creation process came through Ninhursag, Enki's half-sister and a specialist in genetics and medicine. After initial attempts to produce a viable workforce from cloning alone produced imperfect results, Ninhursag used an egg extracted from a hominid female, removed most of its existing genetic material, added Anunnaki essence to it through in vitro fertilisation techniques, and carried the resulting embryo to term in her own womb — giving birth to the first Adam. A Sumerian cylinder seal held in the British Museum depicts her holding the newborn with the inscription "my hands have created it."

Enlil sought humans who would work mines without resistance; Enki expanded the project to create what is called the Adam prototype — a body superior in stature and capable of sustaining an extended lifespan, intended as a vessel for Anunnaki star seeds to incarnate on Earth.

Enki is also identified with the epithet Nudimmud — meaning, in context, "fashioner of the blood/image" — and is described as the keeper of the original Adamic DNA blueprint, referred to as the "holy grail of extended life and optimal health."

Alex Collier, who reports contact with the Andromedans, frames the engineering in similar terms: Enki contributed "part of his own DNA" — a segment Collier calls "the Akp" — together with his partner's, grafting it onto the pre-existing hominid genome.

Yes, Enki gave us part of his own DNA... He and his brother didn't get along a lot. That's a fact and it's recorded. What's also interesting is that Enlil tried to drown the human race at least once.

The Igigi rebellion and humanity's origin

The immediate cause of the decision to engineer a human workforce was a labour rebellion by the Igigi — a class of Anunnaki workers described as analogous to "angels" in terms of their status below the senior Anunnaki leadership. The Igigi had been performing the hard labour of the gold-mining operations for approximately 250,000 years; growing exhausted and resentful of their conditions, they descended from their base on Mars to Earth and encircled the command camp of Enlil, Anu, and Enki in Africa, threatening open revolt. Enki proposed a solution: use the existing hominid populations already present on Earth — described as a "cousin" species — to take over the physical labour, by adding Anunnaki genetics to their genome to produce a sufficiently intelligent and compliant workforce. The agreement reached — documented in both the Enuma Elish and a separate Atrahasis tablet — replaced the Igigi as the mining labour force with the newly created Adam species.

Eden, the Serpent, and the Tree of Knowledge

In the alternative reading of the Garden of Eden narrative, the story encodes an internal Anunnaki dispute. Enlil wished to keep humanity genetically and cognitively limited — compliant workers with no awareness of their own origins or potential. Enki, acting as the figure of the serpent in the Eden tradition, covertly gave humanity access to the Tree of Knowledge — interpreted as the activation of suppressed genetic and cognitive potential. Danaan notes that Enki's association with water in the ancient texts carries this double meaning: "the waters represent genetics — the water of creation, the liquids — the amniotic gel in which the fetuses are grown."

The serpent symbolism is also interpreted as the emblem of the pro-human Enki faction within Anunnaki politics — contrasted with the eagle emblem of the Enlil faction.

Enki and Enlil: the Flood

The proliferation of humanity and its technological achievements — exemplified by civilisations such as Atlantis — posed a challenge to Enlil's policy of control. Enlil resolved to destroy humanity through a global Deluge; Enki opposed the plan and secretly warned the survivor — called Utnapishtim in Sumerian tradition and Noah in the Hebrew Bible — enabling the rescue of genetic material and knowledge.

The conflict culminated in Enki's defeat and departure from the solar system shortly after the Great Flood, around 9600 BC. Twelve Anunnaki scientists aligned with Enki entered stasis chambers concealed across the Earth, among them Ningishzida, the overseer of the Tree of Life.

Alex Collier adds that, once Enki's faction had lost the political struggle, Enki was compelled to leave the solar system, and that Enlil's group withdrew as well — but not before installing hybrid administrators, the Nephilim and the royal bloodlines, identified in this account with the deep state, to keep humanity on a deliberate course of engineered dependence through religion, government, and poverty.

Enlil's identity is interpreted in this account as the deity "Yahweh" (also rendered as Yaw) venerated across much of the Old Testament, while the "Elohim" is read as a collective term for the Anunnaki ruling class.

Greco-Roman parallels

In this interpretive framework, Enki is identified with Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea and patron of Atlantis, while Enlil is identified with Zeus, the thunder god — a correspondence Danaan describes as "very obvious" and consistent with Enki's having established his primary residence at the Atlantean citadel after leaving Eridu. The Yazidi tradition of northern Mesopotamia is cited as a further cultural memory in which the thunder god — identified with Enlil — is associated with the destruction of the earth and the Flood.

According to Elena Danaan and Michael Salla, Enki returned to the solar system in 2021–2022 — coinciding with the return of the Intergalactic Confederation (the Seeders) — and with this return began the awakening of the twelve Anunnaki scientists held in stasis around the Earth. Danaan reports having been forewarned years earlier by her off-world contact Moraney, who told her that Enki "was back" and "was going to return." The encounter is documented in Danaan's 2022 book The Seeders and foreshadowed in her earlier We Will Never Let You Down (2021). His return is described as marking the end of the millennia-long Enlil-faction control of Earth — the same control structure identified as the origin of organised religion, financial enslavement, and the suppression of human DNA potential.

The meeting with Enki and "the Grail"

In The Seeders, Danaan recounts a meeting aboard Enki's vessel during which he announced that he had returned bearing the original genetic sequence for humanity — a restoration he called "the Grail":

I brought back the Grail. Elena, the original DNA sequence... the chalice of the original unspoiled Terra human lineage, the unaltered original genetic sequence. There are more strands in the Terra human genome that need to be reactivated and the original sequence key will do this when transferred onto the altered pattern. DNA is a currency for it carries the formulas required to replicate other forms of intelligence throughout the universe.

A subsequent communication relayed by Danaan from the Galactic Federation of Worlds contact Thorn described a transfer operation aboard a Nabu vessel: Thorn watched Galactic Federation personnel learning to operate new holographic medical technologies in a cargo bay before transporting them to Luna (the Moon), which is being developed into a medical hub.

DNA activation and the twelve-stranded genome

A recurring claim in these accounts is that the full human genome contains twelve strands of DNA, of which only two are presently active. Alex Collier attributes the dormancy to deliberate sabotage, stating that the Anunnaki under Enlil's direction "turned off the 3rd strand of DNA" in pregnant females so that all subsequent offspring would be "more easily controllable, malleable." Enki's gift — the "original sequence key" — is described as the means of reactivating the dormant strands, beginning with the third, which is in turn the key to the rest. Once the third strand is active, the body is said to adapt to higher densities on its own; this twelve-strand potential is held to be what made early Homo sapiens "royalty" among galactic species and drew numerous soul groups to incarnate in human form.

According to Salla, a consequence of the reactivation would be the restoration of greatly extended human lifespans; he reads the biblical patriarchs — Adam, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, and Noah, recorded as living close to a thousand years — as a memory of pre-alteration human longevity.

It will probably add hundreds of years to our lifetime, our lifespans, so that we can continue to evolve spiritually without the body giving out.

Restoration of Adamic DNA and holographic medical technology

Enki is said to have transmitted the original Adamic DNA blueprint — by some accounts directly to an Earth Alliance, and by others to the Galactic Federation of Worlds, which relayed it to the Earth Alliance — for integration into emerging holographic healing technologies, with wider public release pending the neutralisation of Enlil-faction and deep state influence on Earth. Danaan describes this as fulfilling a "great universal law": because Enlil degraded the human genome, it falls to Enki — representing the Anunnaki — to repair it.

Asked whether the activation could instead be achieved by spiritual means alone, Collier expressed uncertainty, citing cumulative chemical damage to the genome from contaminated water, air, food additives, and pharmaceuticals, and suggesting that the very existence of a technological solution implies the damage may be too great for organic epigenetic practice to reverse.

If he gave the Alliance the original blueprint — which was who we were before he made his modifications, and who we are after he made the modifications — if they're building technology to do it, then they know that spiritually we may not be able to make the jump.

Chris O'Connor, who served in the United Nations Secret Space Program, describes participating in a conference on the Saturn diplomatic station at which Enki formally transferred sovereignty over Saturn and its rings to the Earth Alliance. O'Connor states that only he could execute the technical step of disarming an ancient program linked to that ownership, because his pre-incarnation soul lineage was involved in creating it.

Seeds from the Tree of Life were also reportedly transferred to the Earth Alliance as part of this process, though they were temporarily diverted before being recovered and transported to the ancient Anunnaki city of Nippur in Iraq — formerly the Earth headquarters of Anunnaki Space Command — to activate a newly discovered sleeping giant.

Laura Eisenhower's critique

In 2025, Laura Eisenhower offered a sharply contrasting reading. Per Salla's summary of her position, Enki "is the archetype of false light disguised as wisdom... he offers upgrades, sacred geometry, and spiritual technology that mimic truth, but it's a mimicry. He was a master at implanting synthetic systems that feel empowering but ultimately divert people from the organic path of full soul sourced embodiment." Eisenhower argued that those carrying "fragments of Anunnaki-coded DNA, especially from Enki-engineered templates," are subject to "an unconscious resonance or loyalty to the very beings who tampered with their divine inheritance," the result of "deep genetic and karmic manipulation." On this reading a further question arises — whether Enki "dumb[ed] down humans from a twelve strand DNA... close to perfect human" rather than uplifting primitive hominids — and Salla notes that "many sources have pointed to Enki having returned," amid ongoing debate over whether his return should be welcomed or treated with caution.

Against such a "Trojan horse" reading, Salla cites Enki's record in the ancient texts — including the Atrahasis epic, in which Enki opposes Enlil's plan to destroy humanity. Paul Wallis's book Escaping from Eden is invoked as documenting multiple episodes in which the Elohim moved to suppress human development while Enki was either absent or opposed.

Public dissemination

The account entered public circulation through Elena Danaan's 2022 book The Seeders, in which she recounts her direct meetings with Enki aboard his vessel. Michael Salla disseminated and elaborated on the claims through his EXOPOLITICS TODAY podcast in two October 2022 episodes: one (8 October) an extended interview with Alex Collier covering Anunnaki history, DNA suppression, and Collier's own prior knowledge — through his Andromedan contacts — that Enki would return; and a second (13 October) in which Salla read passages from The Seeders directly, relayed Danaan's written update about the Thorn/Nabu technology transfer, and presented Collier's assessment of the DNA-activation question. Danaan also published a video on her YouTube channel on 9 October 2022 expanding on the Thorn contact message. Salla's overview episode covering Enki's role as Anunnaki geneticist and his recent return is likewise available on YouTube.

Cross-cultural identity

The identifications of Enki with figures known under other names are graded here by the strength of the evidence — from settled philology, through the ancient practice of interpretatio, to modern esoteric synthesis; no mainstream verification of the underlying ancient-astronaut reading exists.

Same being, two languages

The most secure identity is internal to Mesopotamia: the Sumerian Enki and the Akkadian Ea are the same god, attested under both names through the bilingual record — a documented fact of Assyriology rather than a speculative equation.

Identifications across cultures

Beyond the bilingual identity, and beyond the Greco-Roman parallels noted above, Enki/Ea is equated with several figures by role-correspondence — the ancient practice of interpretatio, by which one culture's god is named as another's:

• the Egyptian Ptah (and Khnum), the craftsman-creator who fashions life;
• the fish-cloaked sage Oannes, who in Berossus emerges from the sea to teach civilization — described either as Ea's emissary (the first of the Apkallu sages) or as the god himself;
• the Greek Poseidon and Roman Neptune, lords of the waters.

These are role-equations rather than proofs that one being underlies them all; their strength is that of the interpretatio method itself, which the ancients used precisely to assert such identities. In contact accounts the equation with Poseidon is given independently by Elena Danaan, who connects it to Enki's residence at Atlantis (see Greco-Roman parallels, above).

The light-bringer reading

An esoteric strand carries the identification further, equating Enki with the rebel-benefactor light-bringer — the giver of forbidden knowledge who defies the chief god to uplift humanity — and so with Prometheus and Lucifer. This is an esoteric synthesis rather than Elena Danaan's own claim: Danaan keeps her contact Enki distinct from Lucifer, associating the latter with Enki's son Marduk.
