Gods as aliens
Gods as aliens is the proposition that the gods of myth and religion were not symbols or inventions but real extraterrestrial or other non-human intelligent beings — that the pantheons of Sumer, Egypt, Greece, and elsewhere record actual visiting beings under local names. It is the reinterpretive counterpart of aliens as gods: where that framing emphasises how ancient peoples received the visitors, this one re-reads the surviving myths as history. Zecharia Sitchin and Elena Danaan both treat the Anunnaki in this way, and Jacques Vallée's "many masks" principle supplies the rationale for equating the gods of different cultures as one set of beings. No mainstream verification exists.
