Alters

Alters are alleged artificially created alternate personalities within a single individual, produced through deliberate trauma-based mind control programming. According to grand conspiracy theory, the creation of alters is described as the central operational mechanism of programs such as MK-Ultra and Project Monarch, in which extreme physical and psychological trauma is used to fragment a subject's psyche into compartmentalized identity states that can be individually programmed and triggered.

Alleged mechanism

The claimed process for creating alters involves subjecting a victim — typically beginning in early childhood — to trauma sufficiently extreme to trigger dissociative splitting as a survival mechanism. Once a dissociative partition is created, handlers allegedly program the resulting alter with specific skills, behaviors, knowledge, or mission parameters. The core personality may have no awareness of the alter's existence or activities. Each alter can allegedly be activated through specific trigger words, visual symbols, or sounds embedded in otherwise ordinary contexts — including, according to Fritz Springmeier, within church sermons.

Honeycomb model

David Icke described the alter system as a honeycomb structure in which the mind is broken into compartmentalized sections, each programmed with a distinct personality and role: "They are then pushed back into the subconscious. And they give them what's called a front alter." The back alters are activated with specific codes — "it might be a phrase, it might be a word" — at which point the front alter recedes and the activated back alter "comes out. Now they're a completely different personality." When the task is complete, handlers reverse the process, and the front alter "has no memory or awareness of what they've been doing." Icke noted that over time the walls of the honeycombed alters can collapse, flooding the conscious mind with memories of the suppressed activities — a process initially mistaken for psychosis by the emerging survivor.

Fritz Springmeier and Cisco Wheeler

Fritz Springmeier, in collaboration with Cisco Wheeler (herself a claimed survivor of Illuminati programming), authored two books detailing the alleged methodology: The Illuminati Formula Used to Create an Undetectable Total Mind Controlled Slave and its sequel Deeper Insights (over 600 pages). Springmeier described the programming as extending beyond government projects to the Illuminati bloodline families themselves, who allegedly use trauma-based methods to create alters within their own members from birth as a means of maintaining multigenerational secrecy and operational capability.

MK-Ultra and Project Monarch

MK-Ultra, the documented CIA mind control research program (1953–1973), involved experiments with LSD, sensory deprivation, hypnosis, and psychological torture at universities, hospitals, and prisons across the United States and Canada. While the declassified MK-Ultra documents confirm the program's existence and broad scope, the conspiracy literature extends the program's methods to include the systematic creation of alters for operational use — producing assassins, couriers, sex slaves, and espionage agents whose programmed identities could be activated and deactivated at will.

Project Monarch is the alleged sub-project of MK-Ultra specifically focused on creating multiple-alter systems in subjects through a combination of electroshock, ritual abuse, drugs, and prolonged isolation. The name allegedly derives from the monarch butterfly, referencing the multigenerational nature of the programming (genetic memory passed through trauma lineages).

Cathy O'Brien testimony

Cathy O'Brien, co-author with Mark Phillips of Trance Formation of America (1995), described herself as a victim of Project Monarch programming from early childhood. O'Brien alleged that her father sold her into the program and that she was programmed with multiple alters used for specific missions including courier work and sexual servicing of high-ranking political figures. Her account names specific U.S. presidents and other officials as participants in her programming and abuse.

Connection to satanic ritual

In the alter-creation literature, satanic ritual is described not merely as a form of trauma but as a deliberate component of the programming methodology. The ritual context allegedly serves multiple functions: it provides extreme trauma sufficient to induce dissociation; it creates spiritual bonds between the subject and the programming hierarchy; and participation in ritual acts creates implied blackmail material ensuring the subject's silence even if the programming breaks down.

Dissociative Identity Disorder debate

Mainstream psychiatry recognizes Dissociative identity disorder (DID, formerly Multiple Personality Disorder) as a genuine clinical condition associated with severe childhood trauma. The conspiracy claim goes further: that DID is not merely a natural response to trauma but can be deliberately and systematically induced with precise control over the resulting identity states. The psychiatric establishment's position is that while DID can result from trauma, there is no evidence that alternate identities can be programmed with specific skills or activated on command through trigger words.

Connection to secret space programs

Within secret space program testimony, the creation of alters is described as standard procedure for personnel who serve in compartmentalized programs. Mark Domizio, who described 34 years of service on Diego Garcia through a cloned body, referenced "soul splitting technology" obtained from extraterrestrials — a process that creates a parallel identity in a separate physical body rather than within the same mind, extending the alter concept into the domain of cloning and consciousness transfer.
