The Vril craft — also designated the Vril Jäger (Hunter) in its first operational variant — is an alleged series of anti-gravity flying discs reportedly developed by the Vril Society in Nazi Germany, beginning as a civilian secret society project during the Weimar Republic and later absorbed into the SS advanced weapons apparatus after 1933. The Vril craft line is described as smaller and earlier than the Haunebu series, with both programmes allegedly sharing the same electrogravitic propulsion technology — the Thule-Tachyonator drive — and reportedly manufactured under SS-Entwicklungsstelle IV oversight using engines produced by AEG and Siemens. No wartime documentation of the Vril craft has been verified independently of post-war fringe publishing.

Origins

The Vril craft programme allegedly traces to the December 1919 meeting near Berchtesgaden at which Vril Society medium Maria Orsic presented channeled technical blueprints for a disc-shaped propulsion device, purportedly received telepathically from beings in the Aldebaran star system. W. O. Schumann, described as a member of both the Thule and Vril societies, reportedly pioneered the development of electromagnetic fields through rotating discs and built the first Schumann Levitator prototype near Munich in 1922. In the Van Helsing narrative, this early prototype was called the Jenseitsflugmaschine ("flying machine for the other side") — an otherworldly aircraft allegedly constructed by the Vril Society in the early 1920s.

According to Len Kasten, the Vril Society developed its first anti-gravity craft, the RFZ-1, "as early as 1934," financing the work through donations solicited in German newspapers. The RFZ-1 reportedly "crashed and burned," but the RFZ-2 — sixty feet in length — "flew quite well and was used as a reconnaissance craft," drawing the attention of Heinrich Himmler and the SS. Michael Salla emphasizes that this early disc research was civilian in character, operating under the Weimar Republic — "probably the most open and most progressive nation on the planet" — until the Nazi seizure of power in 1933 led the SS to incorporate it.

Specifications

According to Vladimir Terziski, who in 1991 claimed access to leaked Nazi SS archival film revealing different types of flying saucer craft built in Germany, the Vril 1 Jäger (Hunter) was the first purely Vril disc. It was allegedly constructed in 1941, first flew in 1942, was 11.5 metres in diameter, accommodated a single pilot, and could reach speeds of 2,900 to 12,000 km/h. The initial version flew with a metal dome; subsequent test versions used a heavily reinforced glass dome and could seat two crew. Flight endurance was reportedly 5.5 hours, with planned armament of two MK-108 cannon and two MG-17 machine guns. According to the same documents, seventeen Vril 1 craft were constructed and tested between 1942 and 1944, with eighty-four test flights conducted.

Both the Vril and Haunebu series were reportedly clad in a special armour called Victalen, allegedly pioneered by SS metallurgists specifically for the disc programmes. Seven Vril models were reportedly produced in total, compared to four Haunebu models, with the Vril craft being the smaller of the two lines.

Propulsion

The Vril and Haunebu craft reportedly possessed an electrogravitic propulsion system called the Thule-Tachyonator drive, first developed in 1939 by the SS E-IV development unit. According to researcher Rob Arndt, this drive was a "revolutionary electro-magnetic-gravitic engine" that improved Hans Coler's free energy device into an energy Konverter coupled to a Van de Graaff band generator and a Marconi vortex dynamo — described as "a spherical tank of mercury" — to create "powerful rotating electromagnetic fields that affected gravity and reduced mass." By 1943, Siemens and AEG had reportedly built assembly lines for mass production of the Thule-Tachyonator drives, which were subsequently relocated to Antarctica.

Kasten separately describes the propulsion as the Kohler Converter — "a tachyon-type electrogravitation motor" developed by Captain Hans Kohler based on the Tesla coil, which "converted Earth's gravitational energy into electromagnetic power." Small Kohler converters reportedly handled life-support operations on the Vril craft "for several years" before being scaled up for the larger Haunebu series.

Consciousness researcher Dan Winter identifies the Vril craft's propulsion as a counter-rotating mercury vortex in which the mercury was "doped with a wetting agent that made a fine powder mercury soluble" — creating a magnetic phase-conjugation effect that, combined with the vortex's mechanical inertia, allegedly produced a directional gravity wave at the vortex centre.

Relationship to the Haunebu programme

The Vril craft line is consistently described as the precursor to the larger, SS-directed Haunebu series. According to multiple accounts, the Vril Society's civilian disc research was absorbed by the SS after 1933, but the Society maintained a parallel programme distinct from the SS's weaponisation effort. Maria Orsic allegedly ensured that the Vril programme was kept separate from the war effort, enabling its technologies, infrastructure, and personnel to be relocated to Antarctica and South America before the Nazi defeat. All Vril and Haunebu craft were reportedly assembled at a remote location designated "Hauneburg" — chosen in 1935 by the Thule Society — from which the Haunebu prototypes took their name; the site was abandoned by 1942. A cigar-shaped mothership called the Andromeda was allegedly designed to transport multiple Haunebu and Vril craft, functioning as a carrier vessel.

Vril-7 and the Aldebaran Project

A large-capacity variant designated the Vril-7 features prominently in claims of a December 1943 meeting of the Vril Gesellschaft at the Baltic port of Kolberg, attended by Orsic and fellow medium Sigrun. According to Joseph Farrell's summary of Jan van Helsing, the central agenda item was "the Aldebaran Project" — a plan to send the Vril-7 through a "dimension channel independent of the speed of light" directly to Aldebaran. A first test flight in the "dimension channel" was purportedly attempted in winter 1944, narrowly avoiding disaster.

Post-war claims

The Vril craft line allegedly continued in operation after World War II from Antarctic and South American bases. Corey Goode stated that the Vril, Thule, and Black Sun societies "were very much the backbone of what survived the war and who were in control of the facilities," asserting that these societies had maintained their independence from the SS throughout the conflict. Jason Rice, a self-described secret space program veteran, recounted that "in the late '30s, there were a number of secret societies and the Vril Society being one of them, that the German state absorbed into their R&D programs," adding that by the late 1930s "they had developed these anti-gravity or saucer technologies that allowed them to travel outside of our atmosphere."

In a Cosmic Disclosure interview, Salla reported the testimony of a CIA whistleblower using the pseudonym "Kewper," who claimed to have been part of a team sent to the S-4 facility at Area 51 on President Eisenhower's orders. According to Salla, Kewper stated that of nine craft held at S-4, four were from Nazi Germany — "two of those four were the very first Vril craft that had been developed by Maria Orsic and the Vril Society," with the other two being Haunebu craft developed by the SS.

Weaponisation limitations

Multiple sources describe the Vril craft as having been difficult or impossible to adapt for conventional warfare. Kasten states that despite their extraordinary performance, the Germans "were never able to adapt these incredible flying machines to conventional warfare" — pilots could not be trained adequately, the craft lacked manoeuvrability for dogfights, and could not be used as bombers, leading the Nazis to focus instead on Wernher von Braun's rocketry. Rice explained the underlying physics: "they couldn't outfit these UFOs with modern conventional weapons, because of the second law of momentum. They couldn't shoot and expect it to stay on place."

Documentation and provenance

The Vril craft narrative entered circulation through Norbert Jürgen-Ratthofer and Ralf Ettl's 1992 book The Vril Project and their 1994 documentary UFO Secrets of the Third Reich, with further amplification through Jan van Helsing's Secret Societies. The documentary chain for the Vril craft specifications runs through post-reunification occultist-nationalist publishing, not through Allied technical intelligence reports or decrypted German military communications. Terziski's documents — the primary source for the production statistics and specifications — were presented as originating from a leaked SS archival film obtained through Bulgarian Academy of Sciences connections to Warsaw Pact intelligence files.
