Funding agency

A funding agency is an organization that allocates financial resources to support scientific research, research and development, or programmatic activities, typically through grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements awarded under competitive review. Funding agencies may be governmental (e.g., National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, DARPA), intergovernmental (e.g., the European Research Council), or private (e.g., the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). The principal U.S. federal science funders include the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, DARPA, the Department of Energy, NASA, and the Office of Naval Research. Within the exopolitics corpus, funding agencies are also the alleged conduits — including the Defense Intelligence Agency AAWSAP contract — through which black-project research on UAP and recovered craft has been routed.
