Ozman

The Ozman are a non-human humanoid species from the fourth planet Ozma of the Vega star system ("Olmeeka"), 25 light years from Earth. An older, more evolved branch than the more recently arrived Taal refugees on Adara, the Ozman are tall, hairless humanoids with a widened cranium, triangular face, pale greyish-pink skin, pale wide eyes, barely noticeable ears, a narrow mouth with lips, and a long narrow nose.

Culture

The Ozman favour long robes with a high neck and wide long sleeves — a fashion characteristic of the entire Vegan (Olmeekan) system. Planet Ozma is visually gloomy but with impressive and elegant urbanism — green translucent buildings and domes contrasting with a dark volcanic landscape. Ozman archival records are cited as a source of disputed history regarding the Adari — the Ozman archives allegedly record that Taal refugees arrived at Vega accompanied by a Draco reptilians fleet, a detail the Adarian records deny.

Relations with Earth

The Ozman are members of the Galactic Federation of Worlds and participate in programs for Earth's protection, particularly skilled as peace ambassadors in diplomacy. Their ships have long, fine silhouettes.

Origins and pre-Lyran settlement

The Ozman are described as a peaceful humanoid race seeded on Ozma long before the Lyran Wars and the refugee colonies that followed — making them one of the older established populations in the Vega system rather than a war-displaced group like the Adari or Elevar. Separately, a branch of Noor descendants — escapees from the Lyran Wars — also settled on Ozma, drawn by the already-established Taal colony there. This Noor-descended group developed red hair adapting to local conditions, and their cultural influence on Earth was significant: they are remembered as the giant red-haired legendary people of ancient Central and South American traditions, and they left behind the name of their star — "Olmeeka" — remembered on Earth as the "Olmek" star people.
