Area 51: The Alien Interview is a 1997 documentary-style video produced by Rocket Pictures (president Tom Coleman, director Jeff Broadstreet) that purports to show footage of an interview conducted with a living extraterrestrial biological entity (EBE) at a classified government facility, distributing the underlying Victor tape to a wider audience. The video achieved wide distribution in the UFO community and became a central subject of debate regarding whether it constitutes authentic leaked government footage or a fabricated production.

The film presents what is described as footage smuggled out of a classified installation by an anonymous source identified only as "Victor." The footage appears to show a figure with elongated cranium and large dark eyes seated or positioned behind a glass barrier, apparently communicating with government representatives in the room. The "alien" appears to exhibit physical distress during the interview; medical personnel are shown responding. The documentary frames the footage as authentic government material that escaped security controls, drawing parallels to Bob Lazar's accounts of operations at the S-4 facility near Area 51.
According to "Victor"'s narration within the footage, the interview suite at S-4 was kept intentionally dark "for the comfort of the aliens." The entity was held behind a glass partition in a bio-containment area maintained at Biosafety Level 2 — described as the lowest biosafety designation and one intended "primarily for the protection of the aliens, not us." Victor further stated that the biological threat was considered negligible because the aliens had eliminated microbial and viral life from their own ecosystem long ago and were not directly susceptible to human pathogens, though microbes could reproduce within their respiratory systems and exacerbate existing ailments. In the footage, the entity is described as "beginning to flag" during the session; a telepath was attempting to clarify points from a prior interview but was not receiving coherent responses.
The video was produced by Rocket Pictures / Innovativ Media Group and has been available in multiple editions since its original 1997 release.
Authentication debate
Researchers in the UFO disclosure community have debated whether the footage is genuine or was produced using a puppet or animatronic figure. The film's anonymous source "Victor" never came forward publicly with verifiable credentials or corroborating evidence. Investigators including Jon Stewart examined the footage as part of broader inquiries into the Department of Naval Intelligence and reported that aspects of the institutional setting depicted were consistent with accounts from other S-4 sources.
Jon Stewart, the UFO researcher who investigated the footage for six years, was interviewed about his findings on the Across The Pond podcast in 2025. Separately, in a comment on the YouTube upload of that interview, an anonymous viewer posting as @TheAlienInterview2 claimed — without offering supporting evidence — to have identified Colin Powell and Dr. Connie Mariano in the footage and named University of Arizona professor Gary Schwartz as the primary "Victor" suspect, adding that Rocket Pictures / Innovativ Media Group, which holds rights to the video, had endorsed the claim.
