Kur

The Kur (also called "Golden Birds") are a non-human species from planet Dillimuns in the Xi Orionis system — a four-planet system with only one inhabited world — in the Orion zone. A very old race related to the Anunnaki, the Kur are tall humanoids with bird genetics and features, including duvet-covered skin, a crest of feathers along their spine, and a falcon-like head; their distinctive golden coloring comes from a golden liquid they bathe in, which also extends their lifespan.

Character

The Kur are described as having an intense individual character that distinguishes them from more collective-minded species. This fierce individualism is reflected in their approach to galactic diplomacy: even when pursuing membership in major alliances, they insist on negotiating their own terms — a posture that has slowed but not ended their relationship with the Galactic Federation of Worlds.

History with Earth

The Kur were present alongside the Anunnaki during the period when the Anunnaki ruled Earth, and were directly involved with them in altering the Terran human genome. They currently maintain a small, discreet colony somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, a journey from their home system of two years by their technology.

Technology

The Kur use interdimensional travel, and their iridescent ships are described as truly magnificent — a notable contrast with the two-year travel time by conventional means, suggesting their interdimensional capability is selective or situational.

Galactic Federation negotiations

They are in diplomatic negotiations to join the Galactic Federation of Worlds, insisting on their own terms — a stance described from the GFW perspective as not in keeping with standard membership process. Their ancient relationship with the Anunnaki, who predate the GFW as a galactic power, may explain their insistence on exceptional terms; the Kur appear to regard their own history as conferring a standing that warrants special consideration rather than standard accession.
