Zygon
The Zygon are a humanoid species reportedly originating as a Lyran Ahel colony from the Man system (Kepler-62), who settled in the binary dwarf star system known to Earth as Groombridge 34 in the Andromeda constellation, after the Alpha Draconian Empire devastated their original homeworld during the Lyran Wars. Adaptation to their new world's atmospheric composition drove physical changes — taller stature and pale blue skin — and extended their lifespan to up to 2,000 Terran years.
Engagement with Terra
Initially the Zygon took no interest in Terra (Earth) and avoided all conflicts or negotiations concerning it, maintaining a stance of deliberate non-involvement. However, a small group of Zygons voluntarily chose to assist the spiritual evolution of the Terran species by incarnating on Earth through the Andromedan Envoy Program. When conditions in the Sol system became more favorable following the Great Terran Wars, the Zygon government took formal responsibility for its Envoy contingent on Terra and dispatched troops to join the Galactic Federation of Worlds operation there.
Military development
Zygon vessels are described as golden and elegantly profiled. The Zygon are now becoming a significant military power within the Galactic Federation of Worlds.
Lyran diaspora context
The Zygon are one of numerous Ahel Lyran colonies formed following the Lyran Wars — catalogued in the Encyclopedia Galactica Volume I as inhabiting planet 2 of the Groombridge 34 binary dwarf system. The Andromeda constellation hosts twelve inhabited systems in total; the Zygon system is among the most notable for being both a Galactic Federation of Worlds contributor and, unusually, a source of voluntary Envoy incarnations on Terra. The EG Vol I notably distinguishes between the Zygon's initial political non-involvement with Terra and their later active engagement: the shift came when conditions in the Sol system improved sufficiently that the Zygon government chose to formally claim responsibility for its Envoys on the ground.
