Harry Cooper (Jonathan Reed)

Not to be confused with the unrelated UFO and World War II author Harry Cooper.

Harry Cooper is a name attributed, within the Jonathan Reed case, to a University of Washington colleague whom Reed is said to have telephoned on the evening of the Jonathan Reed forest incident (15 October 1996) to examine the captured non-human intelligent being he called "Freddie." The name is uncorroborated: it appears in none of Reed's verified interviews about the case, and no independent record of such a person has surfaced.

The figure in Reed's accounts

In Reed's own recorded interviews — across Art Bell's Coast to Coast AM broadcasts (1998, 1999, 2001), the 2013 Dark Matter broadcast, and the ODISEALINK documentaries — the colleague or professor he says he approached to view the body is described but never given this name.[citation needed] Reed has said that a planned examination of the body by a colleague from the university "was canceled abruptly," which he attributed to intimidation by agents who had tapped his phone. In those interviews the friend Reed says he telephoned on the evening of the incident is his companion Gary Withington, rather than a named university colleague, while the role of a specialist summoned to examine the body and take tissue samples is associated, in his later interviews, with Harold Chacon, who is said to have carried out DNA analysis on the samples. No verified figure in the case bears the name Harry Cooper.
