Epsilon Eridani
Epsilon Eridani is a K-type main sequence star approximately 10.5 light-years from Earth — the third-closest star visible to the naked eye — significant as one of the first stars confirmed to host exoplanets. It is described as allegedly having hosted a Taal-origin colonial population (Aramani) that was expelled or relocated.
Kahil inhabitants
The primary inhabitants of Epsilon Eridani's first planet (Arnmakha — "the boggy place") are the Kahil, a Lyran colony of the Ahel humanoid race. The Kahil terraformed this damp world and evolved into a peaceful civilization that plays an active part in the Galactic Federation of Worlds. They are described as humanoids with fair skin and long hair of varying colors, retaining Ahel cultural characteristics including an elaborate education system, spirituality, and advanced genetics knowledge. Because of their close resemblance to Terrans, the Kahil are said to have infiltrated Terran society as part of Galactic Federation of Worlds ground operations.
Elena Danaan identified Val Nek — one of her primary contacts — as originating from Epsilon Eridani and as Thor Han Eredyon's closest friend, noting him in childhood contact experiences as "a co-pilot beside me with slightly different features than the rest of the crew. Although he also had blonde hair, it was scarcer and short. His face was more elongated... His eyes were also different: more slender and indigo, nearly black."
Aramani colony
The Aramani — a humanoid species with tan skin, ~5.5 ft stature, slightly pointed ears, and dark hair — are described as also having colonized Epsilon Eridani ("Herea") as a secondary site, with their primary world in the Tau Ceti system. The Aramani descend from Taal-Lyran refugees who fled Draco reptilian invasion — their name meaning "the exiled men" in the ancient Lyran root language. The Epsilon Eridani colony represents one of the more distant Taal-lineage outposts in the sector nearest to Earth.
Kahil and Aramani detail from AGFTS
The AGFTS summary of Epsilon Eridani's population distinguishes the two humanoid groups clearly. The Kahil are described as: "Nordic type, similar to Earth people, part of the Galactic Federation of Worlds. The Kahil are an Ahel Lyran colony, settled on the first planet: Ammakha. Peaceful civilization playing an active part in the Galactic Federation of Worlds. They are humanoids with fair skin, long hair of different colours, even though the original Ahel race is uniquely blond. The Kahil imported with them the subtlety of the Ahel Lyran culture, with its education system, its castes, spirituality and scientific knowledge, notably in genetics."
The Aramani colony's origin at Tau Ceti and secondary settlement at Epsilon Eridani is framed within their broader displacement history: "From Tau Ceti, they also sent a colony to Epsilon Eridani. The Aramani are tan skinned, 5.5 ft tall humans, with slightly pointed ears, dark hair and strong muscular features. They are genetically descendant of the Lyran Taal race. They developed a fair civilization which principles are based on justice. Their interest in Terra is only for scientific curiosity and by duty to the Galactic Federation of Worlds, to whom they are affiliated. In alliance with the Pleiadians, and other societies victims of the Reptilian Collective, they collaborate to the establishment of a common defence against their reptilian nemesis."
Val Nek and Galactic Federation operations
Val Nek is the most prominent named contact associated with Epsilon Eridani in Elena Danaan's body of work. Danaan identified him in A Gift From the Stars as originating from the system and as Thor Han Eredyon's closest friend — a point of friendly debate among the crew, with Danaan noting in We Will Never Let You Down that her friend Myrah of Sirius B "is Thor Han's best friend (Val Nek debates that)." Val Nek is described as a military officer of the Galactic Federation of Worlds who participated actively in the 2021 Jupiter Accords negotiations, subsequently relayed information about the Lunar Operations Command being repurposed as a medical facility, and provided updates to a second source, Megan Rose, about training of US Navy and Space Force personnel in Galactic Federation technologies.
Megan Rose: second independent contact
Megan Rose, a registered nurse from Northern Virginia, has described Val Nek as her rescuer from two childhood abductions — once at age five, when Zeta Reticulans and a Maitre gray had begun a tissue extraction procedure, and again at age nine, when a reptilian using a Zeta Reticulan ship had planned to take her through a portal to Mars for use as a super soldier and in a breeding program. In both incidents, Val Nek and a small crew intervened with "little laser guns" and terminated the abductions, with Val Nek personally neutralizing the reptilian during the second encounter by striking an access point beneath its neck.
In 2019, Rose was taken aboard a Galactic Federation of Worlds science lab vessel where she received a GFW communication implant — placed by Mira, an implant specialist also known to Elena Danaan — that functions by carrying a frequency through the neural cells at a density not natural to Earth. Rose communicates with Val Nek via this implant in a manner she describes as equivalent to ordinary conversation. Val Nek erased Rose's childhood trauma memories so she could live normally, and restored them in 2019 when she was ready to begin active contact.
Rose did not initially know Val Nek's name, learning it only in 2021 when she contacted Danaan after watching her interviews. Rose had drawn a portrait of Val Nek and asked him to describe himself in a way Danaan would recognize; Val Nek replied that he was "a little bit better looking than Thor Han" and described himself and Thor Han as "partners in crime" who both pilot ships. Danaan stated the identification: "Oh my gosh, that's Val Nek and he and Thor Han are two peas in a pod."
Boots-on-the-ground operatives
Elena Danaan has stated that personnel from Epsilon Eridani are among the extraterrestrial races with operatives living on Earth, working covertly within the population as part of the Galactic Federation of Worlds' ground campaign: "You have Pleiadians, Alpha Centaurians, Tau, Epsilon Eridani. You have different star systems of humans who are a copy of you and who are in different ethnic groups on the Earth. They are already here working, saving this planet from within." This corroborates the Kahil's described mission of infiltrating Terran society on behalf of the Federation.
Space arks
Dr. Michael Salla contextualized Epsilon Eridani's civilizations within the broader pattern of Lyran-origin colonies that maintain emergency evacuation vessels known as space arks, noting that "the Taygeta star system, the Epsilon Eridani and how they were originally refugees from the Lyra star system" would have had strong motivation to construct such arks as a safeguard against future displacement. Elena Danaan stated that the Galactic Federation initially lacked the industrial capacity to mass-produce arks for all member colonies but later established the construction of such vessels as standard practice.
Significance in SETI
Epsilon Eridani was one of the two stars (along with Tau Ceti) targeted in Project Ozma — the first systematic SETI radio search, conducted in 1960 by Frank Drake at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Drake chose it as a nearby sun-like star with conditions potentially favorable to Earth-analog planets. The star has since been confirmed to have at least one planet (Epsilon Eridani b) and a debris disk. Its proximity and spectral similarity to the Sun continue to make it a primary target in ongoing SETI surveys.
The selection of Epsilon Eridani in Project Ozma in 1960 — before any exoplanets were confirmed in the system — has been noted in the exopolitics literature as either coincidental or as reflecting intuitions by Drake and other SETI pioneers that the system harbored conditions for intelligent life. Given the Kahil and Aramani populations described by Elena Danaan, Project Ozma allegedly targeted a system that was already home to two distinct humanoid spacefaring civilizations at the time of the search.
Astronomical characteristics
Epsilon Eridani (Bayer designation: ε Eridani) is a K2 V class star located 10.475 light-years from the Solar System in the southern constellation Eridanus. It has approximately 82% the mass and 73% the radius of the Sun, with luminosity approximately 34% of solar output. The star is magnetically active with higher flare activity than the Sun, suggesting a relatively young stellar age (estimated 400–800 million years). Two confirmed debris disks orbit the star, with at least one confirmed planet (Epsilon Eridani b, approximately 1.55 Jupiter masses) in an approximately 3.4 AU orbit.
Kahil ship design
The Kahil are noted in A Gift From the Stars for the design of their spacecraft: "Their ships are of an extremely elegant shape." This detail places the Kahil among a subset of Galactic Federation of Worlds cultures — notably the Ahel lineage — whose vessels are distinguished by aesthetic refinement as well as functional performance. Given the Kahil's deep knowledge of Terran biology and culture, their ships are presumably among those that have been sighted in Earth's atmosphere, though no specific sighting has been publicly attributed to them by name.
Lyran colonization context
Epsilon Eridani's status as a double Lyran settlement — Ahel via the Kahil, Taal via the Aramani — reflects the broader pattern of the post-Lyran Wars diaspora in which surviving Lyran populations scattered across nearby star systems, establishing colonies within the local stellar neighborhood. Within 15 light-years of Earth, the EG and A Gift From the Stars identify Lyran-lineage settlements at Tau Ceti (primary Aramani world), Epsilon Eridani (secondary Aramani and primary Kahil world), Alpha Centauri, and Proxima Centauri — forming a ring of inhabited systems around the Sol system that have maintained varying degrees of interest in and contact with Earth.
Mixed crew composition
Elena Danaan described discovering that the Galactic Federation of Worlds rescue ship that intervened in her childhood abduction contained crew members from multiple star systems, including one from Epsilon Eridani: "I discovered that on board this ship, there were different races. He was from the Pleiades. Another guy as well, the lady was from Sirius B, and another guy was from Epsilon Eridani. So it was a mix of races." This detail — consistent with the Kahil's described role as GFW ground operatives who infiltrate Terran society — illustrates how Epsilon Eridani personnel serve alongside Pleiadians and Sirians on multi-species Federation scout ships conducting abduction-rescue operations in Earth's vicinity.
Dr. Michael Salla has contextualized the Epsilon Eridani civilizations within the broader Lyran diaspora, noting the Taygeta star system, "the Epsilon Eridani and how they were originally refugees from the Lyra star system" as key examples of displaced Lyran populations now operating as Federation allies in Earth's local stellar neighborhood.
