A real-estate appraiser based in Las Vegas, Gene Huff has been publicly associated since the late 1980s with the Area 51 and S-4 narrative of his long-time friend Bob Lazar, whose alleged clandestine employment on reverse-engineered disc craft Huff has reportedly corroborated as an on-the-ground witness to the Wednesday-night desert viewings in the spring of 1989. Huff is also the co-founder, with Lazar, of the Desert Blast pyrotechnics festival in the Nevada desert, which began informally in 1987 and was formally named in 1991.
Association with Bob Lazar
Huff has been described by journalist George Knapp as Lazar's long-time friend and confidant during the period in which Lazar allegedly worked at S-4. According to Lazar, in the spring of 1989, feeling increasingly uneasy about the secrecy surrounding his purported work and about what he has described as personal surveillance, Lazar reportedly brought his wife, Huff, and Knapp out to the Groom Lake road area on at least three Wednesday nights to attempt to observe alleged disc test flights from a distance. According to Lazar and Huff, during at least one of these outings the group reportedly saw an unusual luminous object maneuver over the Jumbled Hills before security patrols intercepted the viewers and their video footage was confiscated. Huff's presence at the alleged Wednesday-night viewings has been characterized according to ufology as an independent civilian-witness layer on the S-4 narrative, inasmuch as he reportedly saw what Lazar says he saw without himself being cleared into the compartment.
Huff subsequently appeared on camera in the 2018 feature documentary Bob Lazar - Area 51 and Flying Saucers, directed by Jeremy Corbell and produced with Knapp, discussing the Wednesday-night outings and his decades-long friendship with Lazar.

Huff and Lazar have jointly run the Desert Blast pyrotechnics festival in the Nevada desert since its origin in 1987. The festival features homemade explosives, rockets, jet-powered vehicles, and other pyrotechnic demonstrations, and is reportedly oriented toward showcasing the fun aspect of chemistry and physics. It was formally named in 1991, with the name reportedly inspired by Operation Desert Storm.
