Katayy

The Katayy are an alleged non-human humanoid people of Taal-Lyran descent who settled the planet Kashta in the Sirius A ("Ashkera") system, as described in Elena Danaan's A Gift From The Stars (2020) and Encyclopedia Galactica Volume I (2024). Among the peoples of the three Sirian systems - known collectively as the Ashkeru - the Katayy are the principal humanoid population of Sirius A.

Origin and homeworld

The Katayy descend from a Taal colony that had earlier taken refuge at Vega following the Lyran Wars, and from there resettled on Kashta, a world of the Sirius A system. Danaan glosses the planet's name "K-Ash-Tah" as "[born] from the brilliant star," after the blue-white star Ashkera (Sirius A). They terraformed Kashta using Lyran technology - "sound and etheric geometry" - a technique said to transform a planet's bio-magnetic grid in order to make its surface suitable for life.

Appearance and culture

The Katayy are described as peaceful, benevolent humanoids, mainly tanned and red-skinned as a result of adaptation to the environmental conditions of Kashta. Culturally they are oriented toward the arts and spiritual development rather than diplomacy or conquest - a disposition Danaan gives as the reason they declined to join the Ashtar Collective that dominates the neighbouring Sirius B ("Thula") system.

Spiritual culture

The Katayy have developed an advanced spiritual culture through a vast and complex system of temples dedicated to soul connection and interaction with the Source Creator. These temples, set within natural surroundings, are renowned as meditative retreats and spiritual workplaces. They prefer simple living conditions and a peaceful way of life rather than focusing on technological advancement.

Galactic Federation of Worlds

The Katayy are members of the Galactic Federation of Worlds but do not take part in armed conflict; their involvement is described as mainly scientific cooperation. They maintain a well-established relationship with the Anakh Empire, whose seat is located nearby in the Sirius B system.

The Katayy also played a role in the broader colonization of the Ashkera system: the Ashkeru-Taal race was created through cross-breeding between Lyran Taal colonies originally brought to Sirius by the Katayy and a now-extinct local species of Grays.
