Subterranean Earth civilizations

Subterranean Earth civilizations are the alleged autonomous societies that inhabit the interior of Earth — peoples holding cities, farmland, transit systems and governments of their own beneath the crust, answerable to no surface state. Based on the accounts of the contactee Elena Danaan, the secret space program witnesses Corey Goode and JP, and a wider body of later experiencers, channelers and compilers, they are described not as one people but as several: distinct populations of non-human intelligent beings and, in a number of accounts, of humans — some indigenous to the planet's interior, some descended from surface civilizations that withdrew after cataclysm, and some extraterrestrial colonists who settled underground and stayed. Their inhabitants are referred to collectively in the contact literature as subterranean beings or inner Earth beings — the Inner Earth naming both the deep-cavern stratum in particular and, loosely, the whole habitable interior, and being distinct in turn from the Hollow Earth, which places a habitable void and an interior sun at the planet's centre rather than populations within its crust. The largest polity these peoples are said to form is the Agarthan network, whose name Danaan gives as the general term for every species of the planet's underworld. What separates them from deep underground military bases is autonomy rather than depth — a base answers to a surface program, a subterranean civilization does not — though the two are described as physically interlocked at their upper levels, the ancient tunnel web having been shared out to Terran secret governments once those governments signed their own agreements with off-world groups.

As a class they belong to the wider grouping of non-terrestrial civilizations, standing beside its surface and near-surface enclaves and its off-world colonies as co-equal members rather than as a sub-type of either, and they form the terrestrial-interior branch of the cryptoterrestrial category — cryptoterrestrials being non-humans native to Earth and hidden on it rather than arrivals from elsewhere, a category that also takes in sea-floor and interdimensional populations. Beneath them sit the constituent polities: the Agarthan network and its member peoples, chief among them the Telosii of Telos beneath Mount Shasta and the Anshar; the non-Agarthan Ant People kingdom of the North American cavern systems; the Adelphi beneath Delphi; the Yu Empire founded underground by the Ramay in Central and South America; and the garrison populations of the Nagai and other Alpha Draconian forces, whose settlements are held as military stations rather than as countries. Their claimed bearing on the surface is constitutive rather than incidental: the same accounts credit them with restarting agriculture, law and astronomy after each surface collapse, with the god-figures of several ancient traditions, and with standing today on both sides of the struggle over Earth — some polities in treaty with reptilian and human military interests, others in armed opposition to them.

How the accounts of these societies came to agree is disputed, and the dispute is about the agreement rather than about whether anything lives underground. On the reading Danaan, Goode and JP each advance, the convergence is corroboration: unconnected witnesses reached the same caverns and described the same polities. Not all of them claim to have been there, and the chain matters: Goode and JP describe descents they made themselves, while what Danaan reports of the network is relayed to her by Thor Han Eredyon, a Galactic Federation of Worlds officer, and reaches print in A Gift from the Stars at one remove from any eyewitness — so that where her figures and his agree, one of the two agreeing parties is an informant rather than an observer. Against the whole of it stands the order in which the picture reached print. The whole of it — worldwide interconnected subterranean passages, American caves inhabited by an ancient people who withdrew below, a governing authority over all the underground peoples, and two lost continents in the eastern and western oceans — was published by the Polish explorer Ferdynand Ossendowski in 1922 as Mongolian oral tradition, decades before any twentieth-century contact account; and the plot of a surface people driven into caverns by flood, leaving ruined pre-Flood cities in the inner Earth behind them, was in print in Edward Bulwer-Lytton's 1871 novel The Coming Race half a century before that. On that reading nobody lied: the modern witnesses read, or absorbed at second hand, a body of nineteenth-century occult and fictional writing that had already fixed the picture, and reported it back sincerely as observation — the name itself having entered European print through French esoteric authors of the 1870s and 1880s before Ossendowski carried it further.[citation needed] A third explanation holds that the divergent rosters mark not one people but a cataloguing error: Danaan's "Aghartan" covers every underworld species at once, Goode counts seven inner Earth groups and sets them apart from the Agarthans, and the filmmaker and compiler Craig Campobasso, whose Extraterrestrial Species Almanac catalogues races at second hand rather than from contact of his own, files 120 cities under a single civilization — so that the same populations may be split or lumped differently by each teller without any of them being wrong about what they saw. A fourth, narrower reading applies only to the recent military accounts: that what a witness reached was a deep underground military base and its non-human personnel, presented to him — or understood by him — as an independent civilization. Set against all of these is that no specimen, artifact or survey of any of these settlements has been produced to anyone outside the programs said to run the missions.

Origins and withdrawal underground

Three routes underground recur across the accounts, and they are not alternatives to one another: the described populations are said to have arrived by all three at different periods.

The oldest layer is indigenous — peoples held to have developed in or beneath the crust rather than on it, including Earth-native reptilian populations driven below during surface wars long before humanity, and the groups Goode describes as ancient breakaway civilizations of the inner Earth sprung from Earth's own stock, neither seeded nor genetically modified, the oldest present for seventeen to eighteen million years.

The second route is withdrawal from cataclysm. Across the roughly twenty million years since the first human bloodlines, Michael Salla records Goode as describing four major surface catastrophes, each answered by a priest or elite caste that took its own genetic line below ground and survived while its surface counterpart perished — a sequence of separate exoduses whose settlements later joined into one contiguous network. Survivors of Lemuria and Atlantis are placed on this route, as are the peoples of Hopi and other Pueblo tradition sheltered underground by the Ant People at the close of earlier world-ages.

The third is political secession by peoples already on Earth from elsewhere. The Ramay, known in the period as the Naacals, are described as refusing to submit to Selosii rule over Atlantis and founding the Yu Empire underground in Central and South America, from where they went on to raise Mayan civilization. The Telosii took the same route in the opposite spirit: a Selosii colony from Alpha Centauri B that had settled the Atlantic region before the last Ice Age, they migrated below after their lands were destroyed, broke their connection with the Galactic Federation of Worlds in doing so, and became the western branch of the Agarthan network.

The three timelines these accounts run on rarely meet. A society's own era of emergence is given in millions of years; its dealings with surface humanity begin in the antediluvian period and are remembered in Native American, Celtic and Vedic tradition; and the surface record of the societies themselves begins only in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Settlement and population

The settlements are described as cavern systems — natural, enlarged, or purpose-cut — rather than as excavations in the manner of a mine, and the principal concentrations named are beneath the Gobi Desert and its surroundings, in a cavern system below Tibet that links the Central Asian systems, and on the American continent around Mount Shasta, where the city of Telos lies. Further settlements are placed in the Mato Grosso jungle of Brazil, beneath the south-western slopes of the Himalayas, under Delphi in Greece, and across the cavern systems of the continental United States.

Individual settlements are described at very different scales. The Florida chamber system JP entered opens on a cultivated space he put at roughly fifteen football fields across, worked by robed inhabitants tending the plants, and is entered through a hangar door worked by a touch-plate, opening onto a brightly lit interior thick with vegetation; Telos is described instead as a city.

Population figures are given on incompatible units and no source converts between them. Danaan puts the present network at about a million and a half inhabitants of re-established antediluvian colonies spread through a vast system of caverns. Campobasso counts 120 subterranean cities of which Telos is one. Goode counts seven distinct groups. At the other end of the scale, JP's estimate for a single inner Earth settlement he reached was upwards of eighty inhabitants, dressed alike and acting, he said, as though they were all connected.

The interior population is described as ethnically plural in the same way the surface is. The Nordic-appearing people JP reached beneath a US military base in 2023 told him that others of their kind hold cities everywhere in the world underground, differentiated by race much as surface humanity is. Surface humans form a further stratum: JP describes dozens per visited cavern who entered through open hatches in forested country, chose not to return, and have raised families below over generations.

Polity and government

No single authority is described as governing the whole interior. What the accounts describe instead is a set of polities of very different kinds sharing one physical space and negotiating across it.

The Agarthan network

The largest is the Agarthan network, a confederation rather than a people: distinct nations, some of extraterrestrial colonial origin and some descended from surface stock, holding separate cities under a common name. Its western branch is the Telosii, who joined it on migrating underground. Its constituent kingdoms are described as sovereign enough to be lost individually — the Ciakahrr are said to have attempted an occult takeover of the Agarthan kingdoms repeatedly, by threat and by manipulation, and to have succeeded with some factions. Goode describes a standing deliberative body, an inner Earth council, at which several of these nations sit together, three of them related and marked by one Saturn emblem differing only in the gemstone's position.

Outside the network the forms are different again. The Ant People of the North American caverns are described as a monarchy, their king holding audience with visitors and opening communication with them telepathically in the presence of their escorts. The Ramay's underground state took the name of an empire. The Nagai hold theirs as garrisons rather than as a country, quartered in a multi-levelled cavern system under the south-western Himalayas that local populations call Snakeworld, shared with a serpent cult of human and reptilian collaborators said to have been in contact with the Nazi Thule Society during the Second World War, and holding a garrison headquarters and ship base beneath Manzano in New Mexico alongside the medical-research levels under Kirtland.

Treaty rather than conquest is the ordinary instrument between them, and the treaties bind the subterranean societies to the off-world ones as well. Goode describes an accord ratified around the seventh century by which the Orion group, the Nordic groups, the inner Earth groups and other non-terrestrial parties undertook not to make open contact with surface humanity — an undertaking he says the Anshar later broke deliberately.

Infrastructure, subsistence and technology

The infrastructure that makes the interior habitable is described in more detail than anything else about these societies, and it is the layer at which their independence from the surface is most often argued.

Long-distance movement runs on a tunnel web said to be extremely ancient and to have been vastly extended in the twentieth century. Its high-speed tubes are described as electromagnetically propelled, connecting underground cities across the planet and reaching as far as a single run from Mount Shasta to one of the principal Telosii cities in the Mato Grosso jungle of Brazil. Campobasso gives the same two tiers — electromagnetic vehicles within a city, electromagnetic bullet trains between cities, all of them levitating clear of the ground. Newer tunnelling is attributed not to the interior peoples but to the reptilian powers extending the ancient system to reach surface military bases, using boring machines that heat rock to incandescence and vitrify it — quick, and needing no beams or supports, at the price of leaving the whole structure vulnerable to landslide and seismic shock. Local movement in the older settlements is on foot: JP describes a walking route between the North American caverns busy enough to be called a highway, travellers carrying packs and torches for days at a stretch.

Light and warmth are described as engineered rather than borrowed. Campobasso puts an artificial sun in Telos — a crystal brought from another world, expected to burn for a million years, holding the city at a constant seventy to seventy-five degrees. Where these societies meet the surface, Campobasso places the boundary at the poles, whose openings are described as shielded by a magnetic force field and hidden under cloud.

Subsistence is agricultural in the older communities — corn and other crops grown under artificial light, with masonry, metallurgy and a pharmacopeia of longevity preparations — and the Telosii diet is given as plant-based and hydroponic. Craft are held too: the benevolent Agarthan alliance is credited with a fleet of discoidal and spherical ships called the Silver Fleet, and with making Earth's crop circles by a sound-frequency technique intended to hand humanity keys to an ancient knowledge.

The interior is also described as differing from the surface in the frequency at which it is lived. The Telosii rhythm of existence is given as calmer and quieter than the Terran, vibrating in a slightly higher density, and Goode's inner Earth groups are described as fourth-density peoples, which places a good part of the interior population outside the third-density range in which surface instruments work at all.

Relations among the subterranean peoples

The interior is not politically unified, and the accounts describe it as carrying a working diplomacy of its own. Danaan sets out the parties directly: Terran military, Telosii, Agarthans, Grey collectives — Maytrei, Zeta and Kiily-Tokurt — and reptilians, chiefly Ciakahrr and Nagai, negotiating underground as the reptiloid species progressively took over the greater part of the Telosii tunnel network. On that reading the central fact of interior politics is a slow territorial loss by the older civilizations to an armed newcomer, conducted partly by treaty and partly by the occult takeover of individual kingdoms.

Against it a counter-coalition is described: a secret alliance of Agarthan nations, a part of the Telosii and factions within the US government, preparing to fight the reptilian presence and now joined with the Galactic Federation of Worlds. Below that level of open contest the interior societies are described as being in ordinary working contact with one another — JP reports the populations he reached as connected to each other and as jointly readying surface humanity for something coming, the surface being told of them, as he puts it, in bits and pieces of different cultures.

Movement between the societies is not only lateral. The Ant People of the Florida cavern are reported to have vacated their long-held chambers, telling JP through an intermediary only that they had gone farther in, into the Earth, declining to give a reason, and leaving that part to the humans living among them.

Dealings with the surface

The relationship these societies are said to hold with surface humanity is long, asymmetric, and currently contested between their own factions.

Its oldest layer is tutelary. The interior peoples are described as having come up after each surface collapse to restart cultivation, law and astronomy, sometimes allowing themselves to be taken for gods and sometimes claiming it — the Ramay teaching the Maya astronomy and timekeeping before withdrawing, and being raised to divine status and given blood sacrifice after they left. The Ant People hold the same position in Hopi tradition as the shelterers of earlier world-ages, and JP reports the North American caverns as reached through camouflaged hatches set in forests and parks across the United States — the route by which, on this account, the surface peoples were taught and later sheltered. The Telosii are remembered on the surface as Lemurians or Atlanteans and, in certain Celtic cultures, as the Shining Ones or Sidhe. Their continuing programme is described as an indirect one — environmental preservation, opposition to religious systems that disconnect people from nature, and the encoding of recoverable knowledge in crop circles and in quartz.

Formal state-level contact is dated to the mid-twentieth century and is described as having gone badly for the interior. An important faction of the Telosii is said to have joined with the Grey and reptilian collectives to bond with the American government in the Washington-Telos Alliance, opening their infrastructure to it, after which the ancient web was shared out to Terran secret governments and progressively tied into surface military installations and facilities such as Dulce Base.

The most recent layer is exchange conducted at close range and under military auspices. JP describes sanctioned descents in 2022–2024 to cavern communities in Florida and beneath a US military base, at which the resident peoples handed over plant material, metallic books of their own history, and a preparation they were said to be developing for longevity — a people who, on his telling, know the code of living long periods of time and are sharing it with the surface government. The reception protocol he describes is diplomatic rather than military: tennis-ball-sized luminous orbs circling each visitor and reading their aura to establish that the party had come in good faith before proceedings continued. The hosts of the Florida cavern — an ant-like people, robed, long-footed, their fingernails curving down to shield the fingertip — are the Ant People of Native American tradition on Salla's identification. Their stated ethic, as JP reports it, is that everything is connected, everything is alive, everything is a god, and that everyone is therefore treated the same and treated with love.

That these exchanges are described as sanctioned rather than stolen bears on how the accounts should be read. A soldier taken to an inner Earth city by his own chain of command, permitted to describe it afterwards on a public podcast, has not breached a wall; the release is more plausibly a permitted or steered one than an unauthorized leak, which is consistent both with a genuine disclosure programme running at its own pace and with a managed one shaping what the public learns of the interior.[citation needed] The order-of-appearance objection cuts the same way for these recent missions as for the older claims: an account of underground cities in America inhabited by an ancient people who withdrew below the surface was in general circulation from 1922 onward, so a sincere modern witness could describe such a place from memory of the literature without either lying or having been there.
