Archon
Archons are malevolent cosmic entities described in Gnostic theology as subordinate emanations of the Demiurge — a false, lower creator-god — whose function is to imprison human souls in matter and prevent their return to the true divine source. In contemporary conspiracy theory and exopolitics, the Archon concept has been merged with accounts of predatory non-human intelligences that feed on human emotional energy and maintain systems of control over human consciousness — a synthesis sometimes called Archontic influence or the Matrix control system.
Gnostic origins
The term derives from the Nag Hammadi library of Gnostic texts discovered in Egypt in 1945, particularly the Apocryphon of John and related cosmological texts. In this tradition, Archons are portrayed as rulers of the seven planetary spheres, each blocking the soul's ascent. The highest Archon is the Demiurge, identified with the Old Testament god Yaldabaoth, described as blind and ignorant of higher divine realities. Humanity, in this scheme, contains a divine spark (pneuma) imprisoned by material creation — and the Archons work actively to prevent humans from recognizing this.
Gnosticism as a movement flourished in the first three centuries CE before being suppressed by the institutionalizing Roman Catholic Church. As religious scholar Diana Walsh Pasulka notes, Gnosticism held that the knowledge Jesus possessed — a direct experiential gnosis of higher divine reality — was available to individuals, not mediated through church hierarchy; this emphasis on individual experiential knowledge made it incompatible with the Roman church's organizational structure, and its suppression parallels what Pasulka identifies as the later institutionalization and control of information about anomalous phenomena.
The Nag Hammadi texts, suppressed for nearly 1,600 years before their 1945 rediscovery, contain detailed accounts of the Archons' appearance — described as embryonic, abortive beings, leonine and serpentine in form — as well as their methods: they do not possess creative power themselves but only the ability to imitate and counterfeit. The Apocryphon of John describes how the Archons created humanity's material body as a counterfeit vessel, trapping the divine spark inside matter and then working through institutional religion and worldly power to prevent its liberation.
Modern synthesis
David Icke identified the Archon concept as describing the same entities he calls Reptilians — beings that control humanity not through direct domination but through manipulation of perception, generating the "world of the senses" as a prison frequency band. Icke's thesis draws explicitly on Neville Goddard, Carlos Castaneda's "predator" passages, and the Gnostic corpus to describe a system in which reptilian hybrid bloodlines serve as human agents of Archontic control.
Joe Rogan described the Archon/Demiurge concept in terms of simulation theory: "We might have been caught by a very advanced, powerful cosmic predator that is keeping us locked into reality... The way it eats us is not the way a tiger eats you. It eats you by hypnotizing you and then dissolving you for infinity — what we call reincarnation." This synthesis of Gnostic cosmology with modern consciousness speculation has become a recurring theme in alternative research circles examining the nature of soul harvesting, astral manipulation, and the loosh energy hypothesis.
The loosh hypothesis
The concept of loosh — a term coined by out-of-body explorer Robert Monroe to describe the emotional energy harvested from living beings — maps directly onto the Archon framework. Per Monroe, certain non-human entities maintain and cultivate human civilization specifically for this energetic harvest; fear, suffering, conflict, and intense emotion generate loosh more efficiently than contentment or peace, providing a cosmological explanation for the persistence of war, scarcity, and systemic suffering. The Archons, in this reading, are not merely metaphysical gatekeepers but active cultivators of human misery as a food source.
This hypothesis has been developed in various forms by researchers including John Lash, whose 2006 book Not in His Image argues that the Gnostic Archons are best understood as a real, biologically anomalous species — described in the Nag Hammadi texts as grey, embryonic beings — that interferes with human spiritual development through religious indoctrination, institutional authority, and psychic manipulation. Lash's interpretation maps closely onto the extraterrestrial Grey alien description and has been cited by exopolitics researchers seeking to bridge Gnostic cosmology and modern UAP contact accounts.
Soul recycling and the prison planet
A major strand of Archon-related exopolitics concerns the soul recycling or reincarnation trap hypothesis: the proposition that souls of the deceased are intercepted after death by Archontic entities — sometimes identified with the Moon as an artificial broadcasting or soul-capture mechanism — and re-inserted into physical bodies without their memories, perpetuating an endless cycle of incarnation that serves the Archons' loosh-harvesting agenda. This framework draws on Gnostic ideas about the planetary sphere guardians blocking the soul's upward ascent, reinterpreted through the lens of ET technology and astral manipulation.
The prison planet concept positions Earth as a managed farm: humans are not random inhabitants of a free world but a cultivated population under continuous psychic and institutional management by non-physical or non-human controllers. The veil of forgetting — the loss of pre-birth memory at incarnation — is interpreted not as a natural feature of physical embodiment but as a deliberately imposed amnesia maintained by Archontic technology.
Extraterrestrial identification
According to Elena Danaan, the Archontic role is fulfilled primarily by the Draco reptilians empire and the Nebu Orion alliance — regressive extraterrestrial factions that maintain control over human consciousness through fear, scarcity, and the manipulation of human institutions.
Alex Collier, citing the Andromedans, has described a council-level awareness among benevolent ET civilizations of the Archontic problem on Earth — a situation in which negative fourth-density beings have been farming third-density human consciousness for millennia, with the current era representing an intervention window to disrupt this system. In this account, the galactic community's interest in Earth's liberation is not purely humanitarian but cosmically necessary, as the loosh-harvest operation was interfering with the development of consciousness throughout a larger galactic sector.
