Is-be
An IS-BE (Immortal Spiritual Being) is, according to the book Alien Interview (2008), allegedly the fundamental class of entity to which all sentient beings reportedly belong — defined by two purported capacities: the capacity to be (to exist as a self-aware identity) and the capacity to imagine (to create, alter, or nullify reality through intention). The term was popularized in the transcripts attributed to Matilda O'Donnell MacElroy — assembled by Lawrence Spencer from materials he claims were sent to him by MacElroy, said to have served as the Army nurse present during communications with the alleged 1947 Roswell incident survivor Airl.
The IS-BE concept
According to Airl's communications as rendered in the Alien Interview, all sentient beings throughout the universe are IS-BEs — immortal, indestructible units of consciousness that have existed for trillions of years, operating successive physical incarnations across many species and planets. The primary nature of an immortal being is that it lives in a timeless state, and the only reason for its existence is that it decides to be — expressed in the acronym's structure: IS (to exist) + BE (to decide to exist).
The physical universe is described as a shared hallucination — a "prison planet" constructed by a now-forgotten Old Empire to trap IS-BEs within a cycle of amnesia and reincarnation, with memory-erasing technology deployed at the moment of physical death to prevent accumulated knowledge from carrying forward. Spencer noted that Earth has "for a very long time, been being used as a prison planet by an element of the Old Empire governmental body, which is acting as a secret society."
Relationship to Scientology's thetan
The IS-BE bears marked structural resemblance to the thetan of L. Ron Hubbard's Scientology — itself described as a timeless, bodiless, immortal unit of consciousness capable of operating independently of the physical body. Hubbard's Dianetics (1950) and subsequent Scientology materials posit that the thetan accumulates "engrams" (traumatic mental image pictures) that suppress its native abilities; the IS-BE framework posits an analogous process of enforced amnesia across lifetimes. Lawrence Spencer acknowledged early involvement in Scientology in the 1970s but denied that the IS-BE material was derived from Hubbard's system, noting he had long since left that organization and had written nothing resembling Hubbard's work. Hubbard — himself a close associate of Jack Parsons and connected to occult contact traditions — may have received compatible information through independent channels.
IS-BEs and remote viewing
Remote viewing researchers have independently described consciousness as fundamentally non-local and survival-capable — consistent with the IS-BE model. Ingo Swann, the principal developer of Coordinate Remote Viewing, described remote viewing extraterrestrials as encountering non-human IS-BE-equivalent consciousness operating without physical substrate.
Elena Danaan's formulation of consciousness as a "plasma being" — "we are conscious of ourselves, we are sentient, and we are also at the same time a plasma consciousness, a plasma being that goes from avatar to avatar along the incarnations" — offers a physics-adjacent parallel to the IS-BE model in which the immortal unit of consciousness is not abstract but is a physically real plasma-state energy configuration that persists between embodied lifetimes.
The Old Empire and amnesia technology
Airl describes the controlling institution as the Old Empire — an ancient galactic civilization that established Earth as a penal colony for "criminals, misfits, and rebels" from across the galaxy. Amnesia technology — described as electronic beam devices positioned in the upper atmosphere — is deployed on dying IS-BEs to strip memory and inject them into new bodies, maintaining the cycle. Spencer's summary from the transcript: "Their memory is erased. They're given amnesia and their memories of their previous life are not only erased, but replaced by false memories or other memories or no memory at all. And then they're sent back on a kind of a mission to inhabit a new body." The Domain (the civilization to which Airl belongs) is described as opposing the Old Empire and working to eventually liberate IS-BEs trapped on Earth.
Domain forces on Earth
Per Airl, approximately 3,000 members of the Domain expeditionary force were captured by Old Empire agents on Earth, killed, and subjected to the amnesia process — their IS-BEs now cycling through human and other Earth incarnations, unaware of their original identity and mission. The nurse MacElroy herself is reportedly identified as having been previously a member of the same Domain expeditionary force of which Airl was part, making the Roswell interview a reconnection between IS-BEs from the same original civilization.
Connections to galactic prison planet accounts
The IS-BE framework — specifically the Old Empire's administration of Earth as a penal colony with memory-erasure technology — finds structural parallels in multiple independent disclosure accounts. Alex Collier's Andromedan contacts described Earth as a planet that had been "taken over" by regressive civilisations and its human population deliberately suppressed; the Andromedans' moral concern for Earth specifically arises from the scale of IS-BE-equivalent entrapment, not merely political or military considerations. Collier has stated that from the Andromedan perspective, humanity's situation is unusual even by galactic standards: "They found out that we were a part of them — that our souls had come from their star systems in another timeline, another time, and had come back here through the universe... and we were basically being used as livestock."
Independent contact material uses different terminology — "plasma consciousness," "soul" — but describes an equivalent framework: an immortal non-physical consciousness that transfers between physical bodies across incarnations, accumulating or losing capacity depending on the circumstances of each lifetime. The soul trap system around Earth — electronic memory-erasure technology preventing accumulated spiritual knowledge from carrying forward between incarnations — corresponds closely to the IS-BE amnesia technology described in Alien Interview, though Elena Danaan's testimony attributes the technology to different operators (the Nebu and Draco reptilians, vs. the Old Empire in Airl's testimony).
