Transmedium UFO
A transmedium UFO is an unidentified flying object (also unidentified aerial phenomenon, UAP) observed operating continuously and without apparent modification across multiple physical mediums — air, water, and outer space — in a single encounter or as a documented characteristic of a given craft type. As with all UFOs, transmedium UFOs have been variously interpreted as advanced extraterrestrial technology, classified terrestrial technology, and/or intelligent plasma phenomena; under these respective interpretations they are referred to as transmedium craft or transmedium plasma orbs. Transmedium capability is considered one of the most significant reported performance attributes of anomalous craft because no known human engineering can replicate seamless transition between fluid mediums of vastly different density without catastrophic structural stress.
Characteristics
Transmedium craft are observed to:
- Enter and exit water without deceleration or deformation signature.
- Operate at high speed while submerged — reports cite 200 mph underwater for an object the size of a football field, a speed physically impossible for any known watercraft without supercavitation, which produces enormous noise and wake.
- Generate no acoustic signature detectable as distinct from ambient ocean noise.
- Leave water without the expected hydrodynamic disruption — no cavitation trail, minimal splash relative to size.
- Transition directly from water to air or from air to space without intermediate acceleration profiles.
The proposed physical mechanism is gravity manipulation or inertial mass reduction: a craft that has allegedly nullified its interaction with the surrounding medium's resistance forces would experience air, water, and space as functionally equivalent — each being a low-resistance medium through which the craft falls along its electromagnetic gradient.

Background
The AARO and its predecessor AATIP adopted transmedium capability as a formal UAP classification criterion in their reporting framework, with "transmedium" appearing as one of the five observables alongside instantaneous acceleration, hypersonic velocity without heat signature, low observability, and positive lift without aerodynamic structures.
