J-Rod is an alleged United States military or Majestic 12 operational designation applied to Grey-type non-human intelligent beings associated with UFO crash recoveries. The designation was not used by the beings themselves — it originated from a communication attempt in which a being pointed to symbols resembling the letter "J" and an “inertial bar”. According to Dan Burisch (also known as Dan Crain), the beings designated J-Rod are future humans — human descendants who purportedly established colonies in outer space, migrated to the Zeta Reticuli system after a catastrophic event, and mutated to their present appearance through microevolutionary changes over tens of thousands of years. According to Elena Danaan and other researchers, the Greys originating from Zeta Reticuli are a separate non-human species — not future humans — raising the unresolved question of whether "J-Rod" designates the same beings described under different names by other sources.

The two beings recovered alive from the 1953 Kingman crash are the best-documented J-Rods: Chi'el'ah, a P-52 J-Rod held at the S-4 facility near Area 51 and studied by Dan Burisch under Project Aquarius, and an unnamed P-45 individual taken to Los Alamos, who advised engineer Bill Uhouse on recovered-craft propulsion over many years.

Origin of the designation

During the first attempts to communicate with a being recovered from the 1953 Kingman, Arizona UFO crash, US researchers showed the entity a series of symbols. It pointed to one resembling the letter J and another resembling an inertial rod or bar. Researchers interpreted this as a name and dubbed the entity "J-Rod." Burisch later stated this was a misunderstanding: the being was indicating it had come from a base 15 light-years away (in the Gliese 876C system), with "J" representing 10 (the 10th letter) and the bar symbol the Mayan glyph for 5. In classified documentation, the full designation was "AQ-J-ROD," with "AQ" signifying Project Aquarius. Burisch implicitly equated J-Rods and greys: "when you view or observe, ah, what would be called a Gray... what I would call a J-Rod."

Appearance

J-Rods resemble the classic Grey alien, with brown skin. Engineer Arthur Stancil described one as about four feet tall, human-like, with dark brown skin. Dan Burisch described the individual he worked with (Chi'el'ah) as dark brown, approximately three and a half feet tall, with long arms, four long fingers, a disproportionately large head, very large black eyes, a recessed nose, and a very small mouth with no teeth. Bill Uhouse described the entity he worked with as hairless, grey-colored, without facial expressions, with large wrap-around black eye lenses and four-fingered hands — approximately 200 years old and suffering from cell deterioration. The entity wore human clothing: trousers, a loose shirt, and unusual footwear. In his own firsthand account, Uhouse described J-Rod's skin as pinkish but slightly rough in texture, and stated that the being's appearance did not strike him as alarming — though some colleagues in his working groups failed the psychological screening required before face-to-face contact was permitted.

Personnel reportedly underwent an extended acclimatization process before being permitted face-to-face contact with J-Rod. According to Uhouse, the preparation began with exposure to every human nationality, then progressed through other terrestrial life forms including animals, and finally to the alien being itself. Psychological screening determined suitability; some personnel in Uhouse's working groups never passed the evaluation.

Known individuals

Chi'el'ah identified himself by name to Burisch; the P-45K entity at Los Alamos was never given a personal name by any source. The designation "J-Rod" was assigned not by the being itself but by a linguist attached to the program. Retired USAF Major Tom Mack, who served at Groom Lake from 1975 to 1994, referred to the entity as "JAROD" and "the Puppet Master" — "the most perfect non-human being in the Universe" who "could imitate anyone's voice." Given that Mack served at Groom Lake during the period Chi'el'ah was at S-4, this is likely the same individual under a different name.

Communication

Initial assumptions about J-Rod communication centered on telepathy, but Bill Uhouse — who interacted with the P-45K entity at Los Alamos National Laboratory over many years — stated that J-Rod actually spoke aloud. He spoke English but reproduced the vocal quality of whichever person was addressing him, an effect Uhouse compared to a parrot. This vocal mimicry was corroborated independently by Major Tom Mack, who referred to the entity as "the Puppet Master" precisely because of this ability to imitate anyone's voice. Verbal communication was often imprecise; Uhouse found that putting questions in writing produced substantially better answers than spoken exchanges. Of the four entities recovered from the Kingman craft, only one — the individual Uhouse knew as J-Rod — would converse with the human scientists assigned to interact with them; the other three refused all communication.

Technical advisory role

J-Rod reportedly served as a technical consultant to the engineering teams working on recovered-craft back-engineering — an instance of direct non-human intelligent being employment in a classified program. According to Uhouse, he arrived at compartmentalized question-and-answer sessions accompanied by Edward Teller and other senior personnel; discussion was strictly limited to each working group's assigned scope. His critical function was resolving calculation failures. The program's design criteria manual — a large compilation known as "FOG" (Fundamentals of Gravitational Techniques) — contained gravitational technology formulas that even the program's top mathematicians could not always make work. When human engineers reached an impasse, J-Rod was brought in to identify what they had done wrong.

Kingman crash and survivors

According to multiple accounts, three J-Rods were allegedly aboard the craft that crashed near Kingman, Arizona in 1953; two reportedly survived and one died on impact. The P-45K survivor was purportedly taken to Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he assisted engineer Bill Uhouse with designing flight simulator equipment and served as a technical adviser on craft propulsion and aerodynamics. The P-52K survivor (Chi'el'ah) was reportedly taken to S-4 — the Papoose Mountain facility near Area 51 — where he worked with Dr. Dan Burisch (Crain) under Project Aquarius. Uhouse connected the J-Rod presence at the Nevada Test Site to the Kingman crash, stating that four entities were initially recovered (two in good condition, two disabled) and that the craft was transported to the Nevada Test Site.

Designation system

The P-notation system — P+24K, P+45K, P+52K — was used inconsistently across sources. Burisch himself alternated between full forms ("P-plus-45,000"), short forms ("P-45," "P-45s"), and K-notation ("P-45K," "P+45k-yr.") within the same interviews. The Schratt report uses both forms on the same page. Project Camelot summaries typically omit the K entirely ("P45s," "P52s"). All variants refer to the same three numbers: 24,000, 45,000, and 52,000 years into the future. No "P-47" or "P-25" designation appears in any primary source. Burisch's occasional phrase "P-45 Orions" is likewise not a separate designation: it is a conditional, retrospective label for the P-52K Orions viewed at the earlier 45,000-year timepoint — the same Orion lineage whose continued survival the P-45 J-Rods were themselves reportedly unaware of until the time-travel and treaty contact of the present day.

Temporal sub-groups

According to Dan Burisch, "J-Rod" designates a category of future human descendants rather than a single individual or species. Three sub-groups are identified by their temporal origin:

• P-24K J-Rod (~24,000 years in the future) — identified as the crew of the 1947 Roswell crash; traveled to the present via time travel in what Burisch described as a "P-24 craft" (stored in S-4 Hangar Bay 3). Had "transitional ocular anatomy" — the microevolutionary changes to their eyes had not yet fully completed.
• P-45 J-Rod (~45,000 years in the future) — the faction that conducted human abductions under Majestic 12 treaty arrangements, based in the Zeta Reticuli system. Some traveled back in time to attempt to bring about the catastrophic timeline that led to their existence. The survivor from the 1953 Kingman, Arizona UFO crash held at Los Alamos National Laboratory was a P-45K.
• P-52 J-Rod (~52,000 years in the future) — the cooperative faction, based in the Gliese 876C system. Believed the T2 catastrophe should never have happened and traveled back to prevent it. Chi'el'ah was a P-52K J-Rod. The P-52K Orions represent a parallel branch at the same timeframe but with distinct tall humanoid physiology.

T2 catastrophe timeline

According to Dan Burisch, the J-Rod and Orion sub-groups allegedly originated from a catastrophic timeline (designated T2) in which Earth suffered a civilization-ending event around 2012, purportedly caused by the "Looking-Glass device" being used too frequently during a particular celestial alignment. Those humans who survived reportedly migrated to Zeta Reticuli and underwent progressive microevolutionary changes — decreased height, enlarged eyes, modified cranial structure — driven by radiation exposure and environmental pressures. By approximately 45,000 years into the future, some P-45K J-Rods traveled back in time to attempt to bring about the catastrophe that created their timeline, and also abducted humans for genetic sampling in an attempt to find a cure for the genetic degeneration they were suffering from. By 52,000 years, the P-52K faction — their DNA degenerating further — believed the catastrophe should never have happened and traveled back to prevent it. On 28 March 2009, Burisch announced that the T2 catastrophe date had been passed without disaster, indicating the catastrophe was averted — partly through information given to the US government by the J-Rods themselves. Since the disaster did not occur, the future from which the J-Rods came now represents a timeline that did not happen — placing their ontological status in question.

Identity among the Zeta Reticuli Greys

The J-Rod designation overlaps with beings described under entirely different names by other researchers. According to Dan Burisch, J-Rods are allegedly future humans who colonized Zeta Reticuli — making them the same beings identified by abduction researchers as "Ebens" or "Zeta Reticulans." According to Elena Danaan, multiple Grey species inhabit the Zeta Reticuli system (including the Do-Hu and others), none of which are described as future humans.

J-Rod is nonetheless distinct from EBE-1, the individual Grey recovered alive from the 1947 Roswell crash and identified as a Zeta Reticulan Grey: EBE-1 died on 18 June 1952 — before the 1953 Kingman recovery from which the J-Rod beings were taken — and the "J-Rod" designation was not coined until that later event. As Linda Moulton Howe documented it, "EBE-1 was supposedly taken alive from one of the saucer crashes of 1947 [...] J-ROD was allegedly retrieved from a crashed disc near Kingman, Arizona." Both, however, are classed as the same species type — Grey humanoids associated with Zeta Reticuli — and whether EBE-1 belongs to the group Burisch later classified as P-24K J-Rods is implied by him but never explicitly stated in any source. The taxonomic relationship between "J-Rod," "Eben," "Do-Hu," and the other designations for Zeta Reticuli Greys remains unresolved.
