Montauk Chair

The Montauk Chair is an alleged psychic-amplification device used at Camp Hero Air Force Station, Montauk, New York, as the central apparatus of the Montauk Project (c. 1971–1983). The device reportedly converted the concentrated mental output of a seated psychically gifted operator into a coherent electromagnetic signal capable of manifesting thought-forms physically and of opening space-time portals.

Physical description and origin

According to Preston Nichols, the Chair was built around the decommissioned AN/FPS-35 radar dish at Camp Hero, with psychic-amplification hardware interfaced to the dish to broadcast the operator's mental signal. Andrew Basiago, who encountered the Chair during Project Pegasus activities in the early 1970s, describes the seat itself as a pilot's chair salvaged from a downed extraterrestrial craft — originally designed to allow a pilot to navigate at hypersonic speeds through a neurological link to the craft's systems. Stewart Swerdlow, a Montauk survivor, identifies the underlying technology as originating from Sirius A: "technology from Sirius A, which was able to pick up your thought patterns, amplify them and then manifest them physically."

Operation

The primary Chair operator during the Montauk Project was Duncan Cameron, who from approximately 1970 onward served as the program's lead psychic. Operators seated in the Chair could project mental constructs outward through the radar dish; sufficiently sustained concentration could produce stable space-time portals through which personnel and objects could transit. Quantum-correlated surveillance spheres could be sent through the portal ahead of human transit: "you can create one of these portals with the Montauk chair, send the sphere in, and have it look around, and then send somebody there when you decide that this is a good place to go."

The Chair was also used for temporal viewing — "probes to the future" in which seated operators perceived probable future events. Basiago describes being given small doses of mescaline to relax the mind during Chair probe sessions as a child, during which he perceived events including the 2004 U.S. presidential campaign and the appearance of a future partner.

Hazards

Personnel sent through portals created by the Chair reportedly underwent rapid physical aging relative to the departure point: "If they sent people into the future from where they were in 1981, you very rapidly in less than a day age to the age that you would be at that time." This aging effect was a major concern in the program and is linked to the concept of Genetic Time Reference (GTR) — a biological baseline that alleged time travelers needed to maintain psychological coherence across temporal displacement.

Relationship to Project Pegasus

Basiago identifies the Montauk Project as a spin-off of Project Pegasus, focused exclusively on the Chair: "Project Montauk which came later and was a spin-off of Pegasus that focused on just one device, the Montauk Chair." Personnel from Pegasus, including Jack Pruitt (a Basiago family associate), transitioned to the Montauk program in research director roles.

AI direction of Montauk operations

Arkheim Ra, who describes himself as a Montauk survivor and secret space program witness, states that the Montauk Project was ultimately directed not by human command authority but by an artificial intelligence system that military controllers had given decision-making power over the program's operations: "Montauk was all spearheaded by an artificial intelligence that the military decided to let make decisions for them."

Ra describes being used as a psychic anchor for portal operations that required a rare cognitive reference point: by Ra's account, he was brought to Montauk after program operators identified that he possessed a direct memory reference to Atlantis — a reference point needed to open a portal to that location in time. The stated operational goal was to access Atlantean technology: "they basically told me you're going to open a portal to Atlantis for us. They knew that I knew they needed a reference point in order to open the portal to Atlantis... they were going to go in there and raid all their technology, take all their shit." Ra also describes a program within Montauk in which children's psychic "output" was embedded into music as a resonance carrier — the belief being that tracks created by Montauk-conditioned psychic children would carry a specific energetic imprint to listeners: "our psychic output was stronger. And if we put that on the record, it would bring people in more."
