Chi'el'ah (also referred to in primary accounts as "the J-Rod" or simply "J-Rod") is an alleged P-52 J-Rod that was allegedly housed at the S-4 facility at Papoose Lake, Nevada from approximately 1953 — following the Kingman, Arizona crash and subsequent retrieval — until his return to his own timeline via the Abydos stargate c. 2003–04, a total custody period of approximately fifty years. The Kingman craft carried a three-person crew: one died at the crash site and was transported to Los Alamos Underground (Burisch designated this the "Sweetness" facility area; dulce is Spanish for "sweet" — cf. Dulce Base, though Burisch places this explicitly at Los Alamos, not Dulce, NM); a surviving P-45 J-Rod was taken to Los Alamos National Laboratory and later worked with Bill Uhouse on propulsion and avionics systems; and Chi'el'ah (P-52) was taken directly to S-4 at Papoose Lake and remained there for the duration of his custody — no primary source places him at Los Alamos at any point. He is identified as a member of the cooperative P-52 J-Rod faction — future human descendants from approximately 52,000 years hence whose physiology had diverged through deliberate adaptation following a catastrophic pole shift — distinguished from the hostile P-45 J-Rod faction.
Background
Burisch was initially briefed that Chi'el'ah "was an alien, specifically from the Reticulum star system, specifically Reticulum 4" — the same designation ("Reticulian Four") used by Michael Wolf's Alphacom Team for the Grey entities involved in the 1975 S-4 security incident. Burisch came to understand that this was a simplified cover designation; Chi'el'ah was not an alien native to Zeta Reticuli but a future human descendant.
Chi'el'ah, according to what he told Burisch and what other MJ-12 personnel confirmed, originated in a future timeline in which humanity had bifurcated following a catastrophic pole shift event into two divergent lineages — the P-52 J-Rods (cooperative, disease-afflicted, assigned to the Gliese system) and the P-45 J-Rods (from Reticulum, more aggressive, with a different neuropathy manifestation) — and was part of a delegation dispatched to obtain genetic and medical assistance from present-day humans in exchange for strategic information provided to Majestic 12.
Name and identity
In J-Rod culture, individuals are identified through numerological designations rather than personal names. Burisch stated that Chi'el'ah's personal name "is only carried between he and his parents" and was "not known to or transmitted into his culture because they are essentially numerologists."
Within S-4, the operational code assigned to him was J-Rod — used throughout the facility by Majestic and DoD personnel. Security staff additionally used the derogatory nickname "Stump," a reference to his hunched, atrophied posture. Burisch also mentioned various other nicknames used for the entity, including "Brightly" and "Bright Eyes." His official designation in classified documents was EBE-53AZ2.
Health
Chi'el'ah suffered from J-Rod peripheral neuropathy, a condition that appears to have predated his arrival on Earth and worsened during captivity; whether the progression was purely biological or additionally driven by temporal effects on a being displaced from his native timeline remains unresolved in the primary sources. For full clinical detail see J-Rod peripheral neuropathy.
Mission
Chi'el'ah's presence on the 1953 craft was not straightforward diplomacy: he had embedded himself among a group of P-45 J-Rods (from an earlier branch of the future timeline, approximately 7,000 years behind the P-52s) "in order to gain intelligence over the group" — Burisch described him, with some irony, as "a spy, for lack of a better term." Per Bill Hamilton, the craft itself was "a diplomatic exchange vehicle." The primary inter-species technology exchange on that mission was conducted at Los Alamos National Laboratory, between Bill Uhouse and the P-45 J-Rod — a distinct individual from Chi'el'ah, and the only crew member taken to Los Alamos alive; Chi'el'ah himself was never at Los Alamos.
A temporal paradox characterizes Chi'el'ah's trajectory: he was present at S-4 in 1953 after the Kingman crash, and also present in 1973 when Burisch himself was abducted at Mayfair Park — making Chi'el'ah simultaneously Burisch's captor and his future laboratory subject.
At S-4: captivity
Diagram of Chi'el'ah's greeting signal, from Michael Schratt's Project Aquarius documentation of Dan Burisch's testimony.
Following the 1953 Kingman UFO crash and retrieval, Chi'el'ah was held under government-authorized custody of non-human beings at the S-4 facility in a highly pressurized environmental clean sphere in the underground biological laboratory; Burisch first saw him by looking down through the glass of an observation gallery positioned above the laboratory area — "When I first saw him, I was looking through the glass from the gallery. He looked like a bug to me." Marcia McDowell's analysis of the Q94 document describes the location as "an environmental clean sphere in an underground biological laboratory at S4." Chi'el'ah was held unclothed over his sustained objection; he described himself as a captive — "justifiably so" — and communicated this to Burisch via telepathy. The protocols for approaching him required both parties to display an open hand before any tissue samples were taken, and he survived on a mostly liquid diet augmented by nutritional pastes, having explained to Burisch that he was "very old."
Burisch himself characterized the government-alien arrangement as: "100% cooperation in getting rid of the ERBs, in exchange for 100% cooperation to solve their physical problem" — a framework broadly analogous to the terms of the Greada Treaty.
Research at S-4

Research on Chi'el'ah at S-4
Chi'el'ah was the subject of biological tissue-sampling and neuropathy research by Dan Burisch under Project Aquarius (1989–94) and Project Lotus (c. 2001–04); the primary document of that research is the Q-94-109A report. Chi'el'ah communicated with Burisch through a combination of assisted language and direct cognitive impression, and Burisch characterized the working relationship as eventually intimate and scientifically productive — with Chi'el'ah providing biological information about the J-Rod physiological deterioration that was the purpose of the partnership. Chi'el'ah regarded present-day humans as his "organic pure form" and at least once made unsanctioned direct physical contact with Burisch, transmitting a flood of information via telepathy. Burisch described the relationship as a genuine friendship: "Although he appeared different, that he didn't belong, he's still a human being, and a human is a human is a human to me. So I had a true friendship with him. There was true affection there between the two." Per Michael Salla, the J-Rods' consistent pattern of bypassing human free will disqualified them from being considered humanity's "true friends"; Burisch's public reply acknowledged Salla's concern while defending the P-52 J-Rods' cooperative intent.
Return via the Abydos stargate
Main article:
Abydos stargate
Chi'el'ah is described by Burisch as having been returned to his native timeline via a stargate at Abydos, Egypt, in a Majestic 12-overseen operation; the decommissioning of Project Looking Glass devices and stargates was also a negotiated outcome of the Tau-9 Conference (2003–04). What became of Chi'el'ah after the transit is not described in the publicly available primary sources.
Public disclosure
Chi'el'ah's alleged existence became known through Burisch's self-described whistleblower disclosures, first documented publicly in Linda Moulton Howe's 1999 Earth Files article, subsequently elaborated by Bill Hamilton's research, and later through Project Camelot's interviews. The Q94 document circulated publicly around 2001 and was analyzed by Marcia McDowell and others. Forum discussions subsequently elaborated and contested the account.
Burisch has stated that all of his more than 100 direct interactions in the Clean Sphere were recorded from multiple angles: "all of the interactions were video, audio, tape from multiple directions." Marci McDowell, who allegedly toured S-4 in 2006, attested under oath in a sworn affidavit that she personally observed "live-played content of high resolution (full color) coherent motion digital and videotaped material" showing Burisch and Project Aquarius personnel interacting with "a living, small (approximately 3.5 ft.) anthropoid being described as an 'Extraterrestrial of human-lineage'... personally named 'Chi'el'ah' and who self-nicknamed 'Captive.'"
