Screen memory
A screen memory is a false or artificially implanted memory used to conceal the true content of an experience from an abductee or secret space program participant — replacing genuine recall of extraterrestrial contact, classified operations, or trauma with a plausible mundane alternative. Screen memories are reported both in alien abduction cases — where they are attributed to non-human intelligent beings covering their tracks — and in MILAB (military abduction) programs, where they are allegedly created using drugs and hypnotic suggestion to prevent program participants from consciously recalling their service.
Mechanism
In secret space program accounts, screen memories were allegedly induced by injecting a synthetic scopolamine compound mixed with other designer drugs, after which a handler hypnotically narrated the false memory to the subject during a simultaneous debriefing session. The implanted memory could be as specific as a plausible school field trip or routine activity, designed to occupy the same time slot as the classified event in the subject's conscious recall. Subjects who were more intuitive or psychically sensitive were reportedly harder to screen-memory, requiring closer management, and some program participants were blank slated entirely and discharged when the screening proved insufficient.
Layered screen memories
Screen memories can reportedly be stacked: a subject may pierce a first-layer screen during hypnotic regression only to encounter a second, deeper screen beneath it. Multiple layers are described as generating conflicting recollections, ensuring the subject cannot confidently reconstruct the true sequence of events.
In abduction cases
In civilian alien abduction reports, screen memories are attributed to the abducting entities themselves rather than human intelligence programs. A more sophisticated form involves "virtual reality scenarios" — controlled perceptual environments allegedly indistinguishable from physical reality — which function not just by replacing the memory of an event but by replacing the experiencer's subjective perception of the entire encounter in real time. Military re-abductors who intercept ET abductees after their alien encounters to conduct their own tests reportedly use a cruder version of the technology, producing messier results than the purportedly precise method used by the entities.
