Stan Deyo

Stan Deyo is an American physicist, author, and whistleblower who claims to have participated in a classified international reverse engineering program allegedly involving extraterrestrial technology in Australia beginning in the early 1970s, making him, by his own account and that of Dr. Michael Salla, reportedly the first person to publicly disclose the existence of secret programs working on reverse-engineered alien spacecraft. His 1978 book The Cosmic Conspiracy predated the disclosures of Bob Lazar, William Cooper, and other prominent whistleblowers by roughly a decade.

Background

Deyo attended the United States Air Force Academy, where he served as an honor code representative elected by his fellow cadets. He was dismissed along with approximately 120–180 other cadets who refused their final examinations in protest of what they regarded as racially discriminatory enforcement of academy rules. After leaving the academy he worked as a senior computer systems analyst in Dallas, Texas, studying several programming languages and eventually managing a team that neutralized a logic bomb planted in a major corporate payroll system.

Recruitment and the Australia Program

While privately developing a theory of electrogravitic propulsion at home in Dallas — working on what he described as "a method of propelling saucer craft, dealing with gravity, how to interact with gravity electrically" — Deyo attracted the attention of a covert research network. He states he was approached by Dr. James Maxfield, a colleague of Edward Teller, who informed him that the group had "already built several craft and are flying them around" and invited him to join a research facility in Australia.

Relocated to Australia under a cover identity as an electrical engineer, Deyo made contact with Captain Sir John Williams, described as his "control officer," and was introduced to the research network through meetings at the Australian Club in Melbourne. He claims the program described a base at the South Pole in Antarctica, and that it was an international collaboration involving the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Russia, and Germany — with Andrei Sakharov as the Soviet counterpart to Edward Teller. Briefings from colleagues at the aeronautical research lab included video footage of alien craft at RAAF Base Sale, though he states he was denied direct access to those recordings.

Dismissal and Whistleblowing

Deyo states he was abruptly dismissed from the program after repeatedly arguing that the reverse-engineering research should be shared with the broader scientific community. After a subsequent approach from a life insurance executive offering to fund his research in an underground facility — which he interpreted as a potential assassination trap — he assumed a false identity, fled Melbourne by night, and traveled to Perth, Western Australia. He describes being subsequently pursued by at least four intelligence agencies — the FBI, ASIO, the CIA, and a Soviet service — while simultaneously being protected by the Western Australian branch of ASIO, which he characterizes as politically at odds with the rest of the organization.

A Jesuit-trained operative encountered Deyo at a campfire in the Nullarbor Plain and identified him by his real name, but stated he had concluded Deyo posed no threat and would leave him alone. Under West Australian ASIO protection, Deyo began delivering public lectures and ultimately appeared in a Channel Nine television documentary on UFOs in 1977.

Key Claims

ET Agreements and Underground Bases

Through former program security personnel, Deyo states he learned that in the 1950s human governments had reached an agreement with non-human intelligences to construct hidden underground bases globally and to stock them with equipment, jointly operating those facilities. He claims that in the late 1970s the non-human parties unilaterally expelled human personnel from the bases after their material needs had been met, and that shooting incidents occurred at Dulce Base and an Antarctic facility. From a former security colleague working in a shielded room, Deyo states he saw Polaroid photographs of the cross-section of a 30-foot-diameter disc craft and was told that time dilation inside the operating craft depended on the energy density of the field.

Pine Gap

Deyo describes Pine Gap as having three security zones (A, B, and C), with the innermost reserved exclusively for American personnel, connected to deep underground shafts and associated with Tesla broadcast technology used to transmit energy and data to submarines via Exmouth transmitter arrays. Aboriginal witnesses and a dentist camping in the ridgeline around Pine Gap independently described craft landing on a platform that then descended below ground.

Corroboration from independent researchers

Philosopher Jason Reza Jorjani, independently researching the history of anti-gravity development, documented that in the mid-1950s, mainstream American publications including the New York Herald Tribune and aeronautical journals quoted CEOs of Martin Aircraft, Lear, and Convair stating they were working on anti-gravity propulsion and expected to produce working craft within the same timeframe as the Manhattan Project — but that "the whole thing goes dark round about 1957" and was never publicly discussed again. In a separate interview, Jorjani identified Walther Gerlach — the lead physicist on the Bell project — as having worked alongside Ernest Grawitz, an SS medical officer under Josef Mengele, on the device that produced anti-gravity effects, noting that Gerlach "was extremely interested in gravity" and "involved in electromagnetic engineering," providing further evidence that the classified anti-gravity research programmes Deyo claims to have entered in the early 1970s had deep historical roots. Jorjani attributed the suppression to the realization that the propulsion technology "warps space-time" and that its dual-use potential would produce weapons "many orders of magnitude more destructive than a nuclear weapon," citing Hal Puthoff's estimate that a coffee cup's worth of the propellant could "potentially vaporize the oceans of Earth." This timeline aligns with Deyo's description of being recruited into a program that had already built and flown craft by the early 1970s, following approximately 15–20 years of classified development after the public research went dark. Dan Willis, a veteran researcher of suppressed technologies, has independently documented the same pattern of Nazi SS antigravity programmes being transferred via Operation Paperclip and noting that "the Nazi SS had antigravity, basically 20 years ahead of the United States," a head start consistent with Deyo's description of entering a programme that was already flying operational craft.

Publications and Later Life

Deyo's 1978 book The Cosmic Conspiracy laid out his account of reverse engineering, the international cabal, ET agreements, and secret space programs. The book was subsequently read by President Reagan, Prince Charles, and the Duke of Edinburgh, and a copy was held in the Clinton administration Defense Department, confirmed as accurate by then-Secretary of Defense James Schlesinger. It was Schlesinger who facilitated the restoration of Deyo's U.S. citizenship and passport after he had been administratively stateless in Australia for approximately 30 years.
