UFO–ET cover-up timeline
The UFO–ET cover-up timeline is a chronological record of the key events, people, and organizations through which an alleged century-long policy of suppression of UFO and extraterrestrial knowledge was constructed and maintained — spanning from Nikola Tesla's early anomalous communications around 1900 through the post-Disclosure Project period of the early 2000s. The chronology was assembled by Dan Willis, a former U.S. Navy cryptographic communications specialist and Disclosure Project witness, cross-referencing authenticated classified documents, declassified government records, and military witness testimony. Willis's online chronology is maintained at thewebmatrix.net. (See UFO cover-up for the overview article on the cover-up institutions and their stated rationale.)
Pre-WWII era (~1900–1939)
Nikola Tesla is identified as the starting point of the timeline, as the figure who first received anomalous signals that may have constituted contact with non-human intelligence. Willis notes that both Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson — in the early 1900s, before the Vril Society period — were themselves speaking about a secret government operating behind elected authority.
In the early 1920s, Maria Orsic of the Vril Society began channeling communications from a human-looking group from Aldebaran, involving approximately 4,400 people in technology development projects in the Weimar Republic. Michael Salla and Willis characterize Orsic as an infiltrator from the Nordic extraterrestrials — an asset of a positive galactic faction working to introduce advanced technology into human civilization and counteract the secret government's suppression of that knowledge.
In 1933, Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles traveled to Germany and helped fund the Nazi Party, convincing industrialists to support Adolf Hitler — cutting off the civilian Weimar initiative and transferring control of Orsic's technologies to the Nazi state. Nazi Germany subsequently developed anti-gravity propulsion by 1934 and entered into agreements with Draconian extraterrestrials during the 1930s.
World War II era (1939–1945)
Concurrently, from Naval Air Station San Diego, a U.S. Navy espionage program was established by James Forrestal after a single Navy spy discovered the German anti-gravity program and bypassed the chain of command to report directly to Forrestal. Approximately 29 Navy spies were embedded in Germany, meeting at Naval Air Station San Diego's tower building under Admiral Rico Botta, with William Tompkins serving as information disseminator — passing intelligence to McDonnell Douglas and affiliated universities. Nordic extraterrestrials, acting within the constraints of the Prime Directive, chose to assist the U.S. Navy specifically as the balance against the Draconian-backed Nazi program.
Following the war, approximately 250,000 Germans escaped, with around 100 U-boats unaccounted for — establishing a covert German presence in Antarctica later known as the Dark Fleet. The escaping Nazis carried with them a strategic plan, attributed to William Tompkins, to infiltrate Western institutions — media, education, Hollywood, pharmaceutical corporations, and the CIA — to create what Willis calls a "matrix of perception."
Postwar institutionalization (1947–1960)
In September 1947, the National Security Act of 1947 created both the CIA and the United States Air Force on the same day, along with the secret committee Majestic 12 (MJ-12), all organized to manage the extraterrestrial issue and the Antarctic German problem.
Operation Highjump (1946–47), the large U.S. Navy expedition to Antarctica, is understood in Willis's timeline as a confrontation with the entrenched German Antarctic program. James Forrestal, who resisted the UFO cover-up, was subsequently killed — reportedly murdered — his death followed shortly by the appointment of Walter Bedell Smith as CIA director, who then issued a memorandum on psychological warfare exploiting the UFO issue. Shortly after, George Adamski appeared publicly with accounts of contact with human-looking "space brothers" from Venus — accompanied by imagery later identified by Willis as the Haunebu craft from Germany — a sequence that Willis characterizes as coordinated psychological operations.
The 1952 Washington, D.C. UFO flyovers demonstrated that even the U.S. capital was not exempt from open display of advanced craft.
Beginning in 1950, Operation Mockingbird — attributed to Allen Dulles — embedded approximately 400 CIA-paid journalists in mainstream media organizations to shape public perception on a range of classified topics, including UFOs. The Bilderberg Group commenced its meetings in 1954, forming, alongside the Council on Foreign Relations, an organizational layer that Willis identifies as controlling the six corporations that own 90% of public media.
Around February 1955, Willis marks what he describes as a partial surrender by President Eisenhower to the entrenched Antarctic German-Draconian program at Holloman Air Force Base. In 1956, Operation Deep Freeze began supplying personnel and resources to Antarctica, establishing a logistical pipeline to the German Antarctic program. MJ-12 subsequently bypassed Eisenhower to enter into a treaty with the Nebu (Grays) — agreements the Galactic Federation of Worlds had explicitly warned against.
In 1960, Eisenhower flew to Balochi, Argentina, where — per JFK files partially released in 2017 — Adolf Hitler was confirmed to still be alive, suggesting a direct post-war relationship between the U.S. executive and the escaped Nazi leadership.
Apollo program era and suppression of free energy (1960s–1970s)
Willis and Salla characterize the Apollo program as a cover for the transfer of large resources — and of German scientists led by Wernher von Braun — to the Antarctic German fleet, which had by this point developed Andromeda-class cigar-shaped craft in the 1940s, three decades ahead of what the U.S. Navy would produce. Von Braun and his mentor Hermann Oberth understood torsion-physics anti-gravity, and the Saturn V rocket program is characterized as an expensive prop to maintain public belief in primitive propulsion.
In 1967, the CIA issued a classified dispatch to agents coining the term "conspiracy theorist" as a label to delegitimize civilian researchers questioning the JFK assassination — a term still in use against UFO researchers.
The U.S. Navy's Solar Warden program deployed its first anti-gravity craft — converted Nautilus-class submarines retrofitted with anti-gravity and free-energy systems — in the late 1970s, approximately 30 years behind the German Antarctic program.
In the 1980s, the script for Star Trek was reportedly fed to Gene Roddenberry through Leslie Stevens, whose father Admiral Leslie Stevens served in Office of Naval Intelligence psychological operations alongside Admiral Rico Botta — the series understood by Willis and Salla as a deliberate seeding of a positive future timeline into public consciousness.
Throughout the 1970s–1990s, inventors developing zero-point energy and anti-gravity devices were systematically suppressed: facilities raided by federal agencies, national security orders issued through the patent system (estimated at over 6,000 suppression orders by the 2020s), and inventors meeting sudden deaths. Willis personally spent ten years (2004–2014) vetting over-unity technologies with physicist Ted Loder on behalf of a Greer-affiliated research group.
1993–2001: The Disclosure Project
In 1993, Steven Greer began assembling military and intelligence witnesses — ultimately reaching over 500 — for a formal disclosure effort. Willis entered this process when a 1993 gathering outside Area 51 produced a base security advisory bearing on its distribution list the names of unacknowledged special access programs (USAPs) reverse-engineering extraterrestrial craft. This document was brought to a Pentagon meeting with Admiral Thomas Wilson — head of intelligence for the Joint Chiefs of Staff — who was denied access to the programs and threatened with early retirement if he pursued them.
On 9 May 2001, twenty-one witnesses — including Willis — testified publicly at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., each stating willingness to testify under oath before Congress. The witnesses included Karl Wolfe, who described seeing constructed bases on the far side of the Moon; Donna Hare, who stated that NASA airbrushed UFOs from imagery before public release; Clifford Stone, who reported 57 distinct extraterrestrial species catalogued by the U.S. government by 1989; and Robert Salas, who described UFOs remotely shutting down nuclear missile silos. The event attracted 22 cameras and reporters from major networks but received only a "limited hangout" in mainstream coverage — the explosive testimonies about zero-point energy, reverse engineering, and bases on the Moon were omitted, and coverage was narrowed to a question of whether UFOs were real.
Willis personally experienced this suppression when CBS News agreed to interview him only after he demanded the right to mention scientists capable of proving zero-point energy existed — then had the segment cut by senior executives citing intelligence community pressure. This event motivated Willis to construct his chronological timeline, intended to expose the institutional architecture behind the suppression.
Hacker Gary McKinnon, inspired by the Disclosure Project press conference, subsequently accessed U.S. Navy computer systems and found records of a secret space program called Solar Warden — prompting the U.S. government to seek his extradition on charges that would have meant up to 70 years imprisonment.
Deep State structure
Steven Greer has described the organizational architecture behind the cover-up as a "transnational corrupt organization" that transcends national governments — operating "atop or subterranean beneath" the constitutional systems of the United States, United Kingdom, and other Five Eyes nations. Speaking in a 2025 interview on the topic, Greer noted that in a secure compartmented information facility briefing with the Senate Intelligence Committee, he explained that the group's operational boundaries were not geopolitical: "Erase every geopolitical line... they operate with alacrity and without limitations across those boundaries." Greer estimated that between $10 trillion and $20 trillion had been funneled through black budget mechanisms over the life of the programs, and that senior government officials — including CIA directors and heads of defense intelligence — had been kept ignorant unless they were already identified as corruptible. He further noted that the UFO/UAP issue was the "crown jewel" of the Deep State's power base because the technologies involved — advanced propulsion, surveillance systems, and zero-point energy — represented a generational lead over publicly acknowledged science.
