Open Minds — operating as Open Minds Production, LLC — is an American UFO/UAP media company founded in 2008 in Tempe, Arizona by a team of UFO researchers, investigative journalists, and media professionals. Its properties have included the bi-monthly Open Minds UFO Magazine, the news and archive website openminds.tv, the Open Minds UFO Radio program, the webseries Spacing Out!, and — from the early 2010s through at least 2017 — organization of the annual International UFO Congress in the Phoenix, Arizona area. The company describes its mission as "taking a serious look at credible information and the social impacts of belief and discoveries regarding the UFO phenomenon and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence."

Open Minds has published a number of investigative reports, interviews, and archival material on alleged crash-retrieval, contact, and cover-up cases that recur widely in UAP and exopolitics research. Aerospace historian Michael Schratt's September 2010 report Project Aquarius: Exclusive Interview and Illustrations of Area 51's S-4 Facility — an illustrated reconstruction, drawn from the testimony of Dan Burisch, of the alleged underground S-4 facility, its Looking Glass and stargate programs, and the non-human intelligent being designated Chi'el'ah — was produced with Schratt then described as an "Open Minds researcher." The company similarly obtained and posted the unpublished manuscript of Philip Corso's Dawn of a New Age in 2010, alongside Italian journalist Maurizio Baiata's account of its contents; and published investigative reporter Antonio Huneeus's account of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's alleged 1997 alien abduction. The company's archive also preserves the case files of contactee-era investigator Wendelle Stevens as a dedicated "Wendelle Stevens Archive," made up of UFO photographs and sighting reports drawn from Stevens's own collection.

History

Open Minds was formed in 2008 in Tempe, Arizona, and by the early 2010s comprised Open Minds UFO Magazine, Open Minds Radio, an online news site, and organization of the International UFO Congress. The magazine — a bi-monthly publication that its own masthead described as "presented objectively with a focus on the facts," covering alien abductions, UFO sightings, cattle mutilations, crop circles, and alleged government cover-ups — ran in print and, from 2012, in digital form through Apple's Newsstand and the Amazon Kindle storefront. By the mid-2010s, reader inquiries on the magazine's own page asking whether new issues were still being produced went unanswered.

In May 2012, the company launched Spacing Out!, a weekly UFO-news webseries hosted by Jason McClellan and Maureen Elsberry that also featured highlighted cases from the Mutual UFO Network. Open Minds organized the International UFO Congress (IUFOC) — an annual conference founded in 1991 in Laughlin, Nevada — following the event's 2011 relocation to the Phoenix, Arizona area, drawing an estimated 2,500 attendees to its 2014 edition at the Fort McDowell Resort and Casino. Staffers Angela Allison, Alejandro Rojas, Maureen Elsberry, and Jason McClellan coordinated the Congress each year, with programming that mixed contactee and abduction testimony with scientific presentations by figures such as astrophysicist Jeffrey Bennett and NASA astrobiologist Richard B. Hoover. Rojas, in his capacity as Open Minds' director of operations, continued as the Congress's main organizer through at least its 26th annual edition in 2017. By 2021, the Congress's own website credited "the dedicated team at Open Minds Production" with running the event while carrying a copyright notice naming a separate corporate entity, Out of This World Media and Events Incorporated.

In March 2024, Open Minds UFO Radio was relaunched as Open Minds UAP News, continuing as a recurring news-and-interview program under the new title. As of August 2026, openminds.tv continues to publish daily UFO/UAP news and maintains "Enigma," a user-submitted sighting-report archive it describes as holding more than 300,000 reports. The company's current team page lists Rojas as editor, contributor, and Open Minds UFO Radio host, and names Michael Cline, Angela Allison, and Roger Marsh as former video editor/segment producer, former Open Minds Magazine editor-in-chief, and former website contributor respectively, giving the company's location as Phoenix, Arizona — a shift from the Tempe address given in its 2008–2014 self-descriptions.

Products and operations

Open Minds UFO Magazine investigated and reported on "alien abductions and direct contact cases," UFO sightings "supported by camera and video images," "strange UFO-connected phenomena such as cattle mutilations, crop circles, archeological puzzles," alleged "covert and classified activities and documents related to possible UFO cover-ups and black projects," and mainstream scientific developments in astrobiology and exoplanet research. Its stated mission held that "greater truths can be discovered when individuals question and critically examine their beliefs, and those of others."

Open Minds UFO Radio, hosted by Rojas, and the openminds.tv news site carry the company's ongoing daily coverage of UFO/UAP sighting reports, government and military disclosure developments, and entertainment coverage of UFO-themed film and television.
