Phyllis Schlemmer

Phyllis Schlemmer (1929–2013) was an American trance channel and author best known as the primary channel for the Council of Nine over a multi-decade period beginning in the early 1970s, and as author of The Only Planet of Choice (1993), which compiled the channeled material from these sessions. Her sessions, conducted with Andrija Puharich, Sir John Whitmore, and attended by screenwriter Gene Roddenberry, described a governance body of nine cosmic intelligences overseeing twenty-four Seeder Races responsible for life on Earth.

Disclosure and public activities

Council of Nine sessions

The Council of Nine sessions took the form of extended question-and-answer dialogues in which Schlemmer channeled the Nine, a group that claimed to be the governing intelligence underlying Earth's galactic heritage. The Nine described themselves to Schlemmer and her associates as not incarnated beings but as a supra-consciousness residing in "the Void" — a place belonging to no dimension, no universe, and no timeline. The sessions consistently described twenty-four extraterrestrial civilizations operating under the Nine, a figure that corresponds to the 24 Seeder Races described in Elena Danaan's later contact experiences, whom Danaan confirmed were the same Nine by asking them directly.

The distinction between the Nine and the Intergalactic Confederation was clarified by Danaan: the Intergalactic Confederation is composed of incarnated extraterrestrial peoples, even if in higher densities, while the Nine are non-incarnated supra-consciousnesses who stand entirely apart — described as having no membership in any organization and dwelling in the Void, though the Intergalactic Confederation regularly refers to them as superior management.

Gene Roddenberry connection

Screenwriter Gene Roddenberry attended sessions in 1975 and developed a film script titled The Nine based on the material; Michael Salla speculates this may have contributed to the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine television series. Roddenberry participated in the sessions' question-and-answer format, asking the Nine extensively about the 24 civilizations, the timing of extraterrestrial contact, and the nature of the council itself. Danaan was told by the Nine that Roddenberry had himself experienced a form of direct contact — different from the mediated telepathic dialogue of the Schlemmer sessions — and that the timeline for open contact with humanity had stretched beyond what was originally foreseen during Roddenberry's time, due to what Thor Han Eredyon described as temporal war interference.

In the Deep Space Nine series, Danaan noted structural parallels between the Nine's cosmology as relayed through Schlemmer and the fictional world Roddenberry's team created: the series features a Void (the wormhole), non-corporeal beings called Prophets who inhabit it, and civilizations referred to as Founder Races — each of which she reads as a transposed version of the Nine's actual structure.

Legacy

The Council of Nine contacts represent a fifty-year thread running from Schlemmer's sessions through Danaan's twenty-first century experiences, with the same entities confirming continuity across the two periods. The identity of the Nine that Roddenberry had contacted was reported by asking them directly during subsequent contact experiences. The Star Trek franchise functions as a conduit through which the Nine's cosmological framework reached mass cultural consciousness — seeding the ideas of non-corporeal intelligence, wormhole voids, and Founder/Seeder races in the collective imagination across the decades between Schlemmer's sessions and Danaan's twenty-first century contacts, so that humanity would be intellectually and emotionally prepared for the reality of that structure when it emerged more openly. Danaan herself reports residual contacts with the Nine since her November 2021 meeting, describing the encounter as a singularity affecting her timeline from which ongoing contact radiates.

Andrija Puharich and early sessions

The Council of Nine contact predated Schlemmer's involvement. Andrija Puharich — a parapsychologist and inventor — first organized sessions with the Nine in the early 1950s, using an Indian professor named Vinod as the initial channel. Uri Geller, the Israeli psychic, also channeled the Nine during this period in sessions organized by Puharich. When Schlemmer became the primary channel, the sessions entered their most sustained and productive phase: decades of structured dialogues covering the twenty-four civilizations, the nature of the Nine themselves, humanity's galactic history, and the timeline of extraterrestrial contact. Dan Winter, a researcher who worked alongside Puharich, has described Puharich's lifelong relationship with the Nine as the defining thread of his career — alongside his pioneering work on bone-conduction hearing technology and his study of Kundalini phenomena — and notes that Puharich understood the plasma vortex associated with the Nine as itself intelligent and aware.

The Ennead correspondence

The Nine identified themselves to Schlemmer and her associates as the Ennead — the nine principal deities of ancient Egyptian religion. In the Egyptian tradition, the Ennead comprised Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb, Nut, Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys — the nine primordial gods from whom all divine authority derived. The Nine's claim to correspondence with this ancient symbolic system was consistent with their description of themselves as pre-cosmic intelligences who had shaped humanity's mythological and religious heritage. Researcher and contactee witness Ron Amitron has described meeting Schlemmer in person in the 1990s and attending a session, which he describes as leaving "a lasting impression." The sessions' disclosure that the Nine were associated with twenty-four civilizations is now independently corroborated in the context of Elena Danaan's twenty-first century contacts, in which the Intergalactic Confederation — composed of exactly twenty-four Seeder Races — operates under the authority of the Nine as a superior management structure.

Schlemmer's sessions and Atlantis

Researcher and writer Ella Laban, who attended one of Schlemmer's sessions in the 1990s and described Schlemmer as leaving "a lasting impression" on her, has noted that among the most notable claims Schlemmer's channeled material conveyed was that the ancient Hebrews — identified in the sessions as the "Hohs" or "Hods" — originated from ancient Atlantis, forming a group that inherited the land after the civilisation's sinking. Laban further observed that the timing of the coming age of Aquarius — the processional age that corresponds to the era of Atlantis approximately 24,000–26,000 years ago — aligns with the Nine's framing of humanity now coming "full circle" to the civilisational conditions of that earlier period.
