Conspiracy theory studies
Conspiracy theory studies is the academic field examining the psychology, sociology, and cultural dynamics of conspiracy theory belief. The field has been subject to metacritique of conspiracy theory scholarship alleging failures to engage with the premises of specific conspiracy theories, conflicts of interest, and methodologies that presuppose the falsity of the claims being studied.[citation needed]
The same critique extends to the researchers' alleged financial or personal relationships with entities that are themselves the subjects of those theories, and to the biasing influence such ties are held to exert on the field's findings.[citation needed]
