Scalar wave

A scalar wave (also scalar field or longitudinal wave) is a proposed form of electromagnetic wave that propagates as a longitudinal compression wave in a scalar field rather than as a transverse wave — a concept developed from Nikola Tesla's experimental work, formalized in alternative physics literature by Thomas Bearden, and cited in reverse engineering and secret space program research as the fundamental operating principle of UAP propulsion, free energy devices, and directed energy weapons systems allegedly developed in classified programs.

Theoretical basis

James Clerk Maxwell's original 1865 electromagnetic equations contained scalar wave solutions that were subsequently removed from the simplified "Heaviside equations" that became the basis of standard electromagnetic theory. Oliver Heaviside and Willard Gibbs reformulated Maxwell's 20 quaternion equations into the 4 vector equations used today, and critics within alternative physics argue this reformulation discarded physically real phenomena — specifically longitudinal wave solutions in the electromagnetic potential. Bearden and other scalar wave proponents argue this removal was an error — or a deliberate suppression — and that the original Maxwellian scalar terms describe a real physical phenomenon accessible at sufficient energy densities.

The zero-point energy framework developed by Hal Puthoff at SRI International is related: Puthoff's stochastic electrodynamics model treats the vacuum as an energetic medium whose fluctuations can be tapped, consistent with the scalar field picture. Puthoff's work, which received DIA funding and produced papers in peer-reviewed journals including Physical Review A, provides a theoretical bridge between scalar wave theory and mainstream quantum electrodynamics — though mainstream physics does not recognize longitudinal scalar electromagnetic waves as a propagating mode in vacuum.

Tesla's original work

Nikola Tesla described experiments conducted at his Colorado Springs laboratory (1899–1900) and his Wardenclyffe Tower project (1901–1917) in which he claimed to transmit electrical energy without wires across long distances using what he called "non-Hertzian waves" — waves that did not diminish with distance as electromagnetic radiation does and that appeared to propagate through the Earth itself rather than through air. Tesla's description of these waves — propagating in the electrical potential rather than the electromagnetic field, penetrating conductors and insulators equally — matches the theoretical description of scalar longitudinal waves.

Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower on Long Island was designed to transmit electrical power globally using this principle. The project was abandoned in 1917 after J.P. Morgan withdrew funding — ostensibly because there was no commercial model for metered power delivered without wires. Alternative researchers including Bearden, Gerry Vassilatos, and Joseph Farrell have argued that the suppression of Tesla's wireless energy transmission system was deliberate economic sabotage by interests (Morgan, Rockefeller, Edison) whose business models depended on metered power delivery infrastructure.

Thomas Bearden's scalar electromagnetics

Colonel Thomas Bearden (US Army, retired) developed the most systematic alternative-physics framework for scalar waves, which he called "Scalar Electromagnetics" or "Superpotential Theory." Bearden argued that the scalar potential (phi) and vector potential (A) in classical electromagnetism — normally treated as mathematical conveniences — are in fact physical fields carrying real energy that can be tapped by appropriately designed circuits. His key invention claim was the Motionless Electromagnetic Generator (MEG), which he co-patented (US Patent 6,362,718, 2002) and which he claimed could output more energy than was electrically input by tapping the energy of the local vacuum field.

Bearden also developed an extensive theory of scalar weapons — devices that superimpose two scalar wave beams to interfere constructively at a distant point, releasing energy in any desired form (electromagnetic, kinetic, thermal) at that location without a direct physical connection. He coined the term "interferometry" for this approach and argued that the Soviet Union had deployed such weapons beginning in the 1970s, using them to cause aircraft accidents, manipulate weather, and induce disease in targeted populations. He cited anomalous contrails, unusual disease outbreaks, and unexplained aircraft accidents as evidence of ongoing scalar weapons use.

HAARP and weather modification

The HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program) ionospheric research facility in Gakona, Alaska — built using patents by Bernard Eastlund (US Patent 4,686,605, "Method and Apparatus for Altering a Region in the Earth's Atmosphere, Ionosphere, and/or Magnetosphere") — has been cited by Bearden and others as the primary U.S. scalar weather modification platform. Eastlund's patent describes using high-power radio beams directed at the ionosphere to heat and displace it, creating pressure systems that could alter weather patterns over continental distances. Alternative researchers argue that at the energy levels described by Bearden, HAARP-type facilities can generate scalar interferometry effects — focusing energy at distant points in the atmosphere to trigger or steer weather events.

Catastrophic weather events including Hurricane Katrina (2005), the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and various droughts and floods have been attributed to HAARP scalar operations by researchers including Bearden, Nick Begich (author of Angels Don't Play This HAARP), and Leuren Moret. The official U.S. position is that HAARP is a purely scientific facility studying ionospheric physics with no weapons function; the facility was transferred from DARPA/Air Force to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2015.

Psychotronics and mind control

An extension of scalar wave theory in alternative research connects scalar weapons to psychotronics — the alleged use of scalar or ELF (extremely low frequency) electromagnetic fields to alter human consciousness, induce specific emotional states, and remotely deliver sensory hallucinations or commands. Bearden argued that scalar waves can carry what he called "conditioning signals" tuned to brain frequencies, allowing remote transmission of emotional or cognitive content. This framework connects to the documented MKULTRA research on electromagnetic behavior modification and to Soviet "psychotronic weapons" research acknowledged in CIA documents from the 1970s and 1980s.

The targeting of individuals with alleged scalar or electromagnetic weapons — referred to as "electronic harassment" or "directed energy targeting" by those who claim to experience it — is a significant subcategory of gangstalking research. Thousands of individuals who describe themselves as "targeted individuals" claim symptoms consistent with scalar or ELF exposure: persistent tinnitus, burning sensations, intrusive thoughts, sleep disruption, and apparent remote viewing of their activities. The relationship between these claims and documented electromagnetic bioeffects research remains contested.

UAP propulsion context

The 2001 Disclosure Project briefing document cited by Steven Greer described scalar waves and zero-point energy as the basis for UAP propulsion per testimony from multiple witnesses with aerospace backgrounds. Bob Lazar described the Sport Model craft at S-4 as using gravitational wave generators operating on principles consistent with scalar field manipulation. The AAWSAP Defense Intelligence Reference Document (DIRD) on warp drive — authored by Harold White of NASA — referenced exotic vacuum states consistent with scalar field theory. David Adair testified that the fusion containment engine he examined at Area 51 in 1971 operated on principles he subsequently recognized as scalar electromagnetic.

Elena Danaan's contact material describes GFW propulsion systems as operating on what she terms "tachyon field" principles — a term that in the technical literature of alternative physics is often used interchangeably with scalar field or zero-point field manipulation. The connection between scalar wave theory and UAP propulsion thus runs from Tesla's original experimental observations through Bearden's theoretical formalization to whistleblower testimony from multiple classified program witnesses.

Torsion field propulsion in extraterrestrial craft

Elena Danaan described the propulsion mechanism of Galactic Federation of Worlds scout craft as a torsion field system, in which a double torus containing counter-rotating mercury generates an electromagnetic field that cancels mass. The system uses magnets to induce a magnetic current in one torus, which creates reactive dynamics in a perpendicular torus — producing the torsion field that ionizes surrounding atmospheric particles into plasma when spun at high speed. Michael Salla noted that the TR-3B's torsion field effect began manifesting when its plasma ring reached 60,000 rpm, and that inside a craft generating such a field, the laws of inertia do not apply — a principle Danaan confirmed from personal experience, stating that occupants feel no sensation of acceleration or movement. Danaan identified this technology as identical to the German Haunebu craft design, noting that both used three spheres containing torsion tori, with electrical impulses sent to segmented sections to navigate — a system she described as equivalent to the flux liner.

Longitudinal waves and the SALT initiative

Engineer Dave Rossi, in conversation with Michael Salla, distinguished longitudinal waves (also called scalar waves) as inhabiting a "very peculiar set of matrices" combining real frequencies and complex conjugates — potentials that exist in empty space or the ether but cannot be directly observed or touched. Rossi characterized these frequencies as a potential activation key for tapping zero-point energy, and suggested they may also carry a spiritual dimension, possibly connecting to chi or the soul. Salla explicitly connected Rossi's longitudinal wave research to scalar wave theory, noting that the terms are used interchangeably in the alternative physics literature.

Scalar weapons and UAP downing

Steven Greer, in testimony on The Shawn Ryan Show, described scalar or longitudinal weapons as the primary means by which the U.S. military has downed extraterrestrial craft, explaining that "the ET craft are completely electromagnetic" and that "an electromagnetic pulse or scalar weapon stuns them and they'll come down" — sometimes crashing, sometimes remaining intact for study. Greer further distinguished these weapons from conventional electromagnetic pulse technology, describing a "supercharged" scalar component that "goes out longitudinally without the waveform" at multiples of the speed of light, capable of targeting objects through quantum entanglement rather than linear space-time.

Danny Jones and Jesse Michels, in a joint discussion of extended electrodynamics, described the scalar field as a framework in which "unlike classical electrodynamics, you don't get the attenuation over space time" — enabling scalar longitudinal waves that do not exhibit the same decay function as transverse Hertzian waves, and speculating that consciousness itself might operate via scalar field transmissions.
