Fatima apparition

The Fatima apparition (Miracle of the Sun) refers to the events of October 13, 1917, at Fátima, Portugal, in which over 70,000 witnesses claimed to see a luminous disc perform aerial maneuvers in the sky — an event interpreted in ancient astronaut theory and exopolitics research as a mass UFO sighting rather than a Marian apparition, and characterized by William Cooper, Jason Jorjani, and other researchers as the most well-documented pre-modern contact event in the Western historical record.

Events of 1917

The events began in May 1917 when three shepherd children — Lúcia dos Santos, Jacinta Marto, and Francisco Marto — near Fátima, Portugal, reported encounters with a luminous being who promised to return on the thirteenth of each subsequent month. Crowds gathered, growing from small groups to an estimated 70,000 by October. On October 13, witnesses across the crowd — religious and secular alike, including journalists and physicians — reported seeing a disc-like object in the sky that spun, emitted colored light, and appeared to plunge toward Earth before returning to altitude. The event was declared a miracle by the Catholic Church in 1930 and is cited by the Church as one of the most attested Marian apparitions in its history.

ET interpretation

Jeremy Corbell, documentary filmmaker and UAP researcher, described the Fatima event to Joe Rogan as structurally parallel to a modern mass UAP sighting: a predicted, scheduled contact event, with large eyewitness groups including non-religious observers, and witnesses reporting a technological rather than purely spiritual perception — "some people saw it as religious, that it was a visitation, but other people saw it as technological, like something descended." Rogan confirmed in the same conversation: "That is the Miracle of Fatima."

Jacques Vallée and researchers within the interdimensional hypothesis cite the Fátima event as a paradigmatic staged interdimensional contact event: the witnesses, including approximately 70,000 individuals at the final apparition, reported atmospheric phenomena identical to close-range UAP encounters — a luminous spinning disc, a heat wave, colored light, temporary healing of illness — combined with religious imagery tailored to the cultural expectations of devout Portuguese villagers. The operationally interdimensional character of the event — the entity presenting itself as the Virgin Mary, providing timed predictions, and producing physical effects in the atmosphere — fits the prediction of the hypothesis that the same intelligence adopts whatever form will most effectively influence the target population.

Similar analysis is applied to the Medjugorje apparitions (1981–present), in which six children in Yugoslavia began receiving regular private communications from an entity presenting as the Virgin Mary, while the same intelligence is held to appear as luminous aerial phenomena to crowds.[citation needed]

William Cooper, in his Majestic 12 lecture, reported that U.S. intelligence scrutinized the Fatima events specifically on suspicion of alien manipulation: "The events at Fatima in the early part of the century were scrutinized on suspicion that it was alien manipulation. An intelligence operation was put into motion to penetrate the secrecy surrounding the event." Cooper further stated that the United States used Vatican intelligence assets to obtain the entire Vatican study of Fatima, including the Third Secret of Fátima, and that NHI contact had stated the prophecy's contents.

Jason Jorjani, philosopher and author of Prometheus and Atlas, connects the Fatima encounter to the broader history of UFO-religious interface, noting that Virgin Mary sighting locations tend to coincide geographically with pre-Christian goddess worship sites — suggesting a continuous program of NHI contact deployed through locally appropriate religious symbolism across historical periods.

Contactee parallels

Chris Bledsoe, a North Carolina contactee whose case has been studied by NASA and the Defense Intelligence Agency, described intelligence officials referring him to Fatima as a parallel to his own ongoing contact experiences with a luminous female entity. Bledsoe noted that Fatima, the Lady of Guadalupe, and similar Marian apparition sites were offered to him by his handlers as historical precedents for the phenomenon he was encountering: "They quickly referred me to the Fatima Lady and the Lady of Guadalupe, the Lady of Lourdes France and Fatima and there's several others."

Diana Pasulka, professor of religious studies, has argued that at Marian apparition sites only the designated visionaries can see the apparition, but that scientific measurement of the eyetracking of the visionaries shows their eyes to be tracking a real stimulus: "only the visionaries can see the Virgin Mary, but no one else can. But they've been tested and their eyes are tracking something. And they're all tracking the same thing, so they're seeing something."

Intelligence interest

The MJ-12 documents and related disclosure testimony consistently place Fatima in the category of pre-UFO era events requiring the same intelligence framework as modern UAP incidents. Cooper specifies that NHI beings themselves, when confronted with the government's Fatima research, "stated that it was true" and "explained that they had created us through hybridization and had manipulated the human race through religion."
