Open contact

Open contact is the term used across contactee, channeled, and exopolitics-insider testimony for a still-future threshold: the point at which one or more non-human intelligent factions abandon covert, individual-level engagement with humanity and reveal themselves directly and publicly to the species as a whole, rather than through classified government channels, isolated encounters, or intermediary contactees. According to the contactee Alex Collier, the channeled material Elena Danaan relays from Thor Han Eredyon, and the researcher Michael Salla's synthesis of insider testimony, open contact is consistently described as conditional on humanity's own readiness — an ethical, technological, or "consciousness" threshold that non-human factions describe themselves as waiting for humanity to cross before approaching openly. The concept is distinct from disclosure, the release by human governments and institutions of information they already hold about non-human contact: disclosure is an act of human institutions revealing what they know, while open contact is an act of non-human factions revealing themselves — related and, on several accounts, sequential, but not the same act. Open contact sits beside the broader doctrine of non-interventionism and the Galactic codex's law of non-intervention — of which it is described as the withheld endpoint — and beside the CE-5 protocol and the general concept of contact, both of which cover the human side of individual or small-scale encounter rather than a mass, faction-initiated self-revelation.

Accounts of open contact recur across independent traditions spanning seven decades, and the same readiness-conditionality shows up in each: the Unarius movement, founded in 1954, taught that an "Interplanetary Confederation" of ninety-one worlds was due to make open contact with Earth, a claim the religious-studies scholar David G. Robertson places within the broader academic category of UFO religions rather than treating as evidence of the event itself. The Nine, channeled through Phyllis Schlemmer in the early-to-mid 1970s, predicted an imminent open contact between humanity and the 24 seeder races that did not occur, which Elena Danaan and Michael Salla attribute to a temporal war waged against the plan rather than to any error in the original prediction. More recent tellings — Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's account of his 1997 onboard contact, Collier's 1998 broadcast testimony, and Danaan's 2020s channeled sessions with Thor Han — describe the same withholding logic in different vocabularies (ethical maturity, technological threshold, "consciousness"), which is itself treated by Salla as corroboration across witnesses rather than as evidence the traditions independently invented a similar motif.

Conditions attached to open contact

Sources describe several distinct, sometimes overlapping conditions said to govern the timing of open contact. Collier relays that the Andromedans withhold full engagement until humanity demonstrates it can "interact with each other without being manipulated," framing the threshold as ethical and behavioral rather than technological. Ilyumzhinov reports being told directly, during his 1997 onboard experience, that Earth had "not yet reached the level in your civilization's development to communicate" with the beings who created humanity, and that in the meantime the beings pursue a strategy of building a "critical mass" of individual sightings and encounters — "the more people who will somehow see them, contact them, talk about this, the faster human consciousness will come to the idea that we are not alone" — as an incremental substitute for a single open event. Michael Salla, discussing Haim Eshed's 2020 disclosures with the researcher Emilio Ortiz, frames the threshold in explicitly technological terms tied to the Kardashev scale: humanity must reach the capability of interstellar travel before the Galactic Federation of Worlds "will openly interact with humanity" with the wider population rather than with select government contacts. The 2021 Jupiter Accords are described in several later accounts as a staging point toward open contact rather than the event itself — a phased arrangement under which non-human delegations coordinate with an Earth Alliance on a timeline explicitly said to be tied to humanity's technological readiness.

Distinction from disclosure

Open contact and disclosure name different acts performed by different actors — disclosure is something human governments and institutions do with information already in their possession, while open contact is something a non-human faction would do by presenting itself directly — but several accounts use the two terms in ways that blur the line. Thor Han Eredyon, relayed through Elena Danaan, describes his own faction's plan for self-revelation as "our perfect plan for the disclosure of our presence," using "disclosure" for what, under the distinction above, would be open contact. Corey Goode, by contrast, keeps the two acts sequential rather than synonymous: he describes the inner-Earth groups bound by the Muhammad (Maharaj) Accords as wanting "to come out and start working with us before the disclosure event," treating open contact as a precondition for a separate, later disclosure rather than another name for it.

A separate but adjacent claim — that a negative faction would attack a positive one specifically in retaliation for open, public self-disclosure by the positive faction — is examined at Positive and negative extraterrestrial factions, where no source has been located stating it in that direction. The sourced material surveyed there instead runs the other way: the Galactic codex's law of non-intervention is described as restraining a negative faction from invading a positive faction's protected world, not as restraining a positive faction from disclosing itself for fear of negative retaliation. Nothing found for this article changes that finding; every readiness-conditionality source surveyed here frames withholding as protecting humanity from disruption or manipulation, not as protecting the disclosing faction from attack.

Historical attestation

The account of open contact runs, in the order sources place it, from a 1950s new religious movement through 1970s channeling to contemporary insider testimony. The Unarius Academy of Science, founded in 1954, taught that an Interplanetary Confederation of ninety-one worlds was due to make open contact with Earth — an expectation Robertson's 2021 academic treatment situates within the wider field of American UFO religions rather than assessing for accuracy. In the early-to-mid 1970s, the Nine communicated through Schlemmer's channeled sessions — attended in person by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry — that open contact between humanity and the 24 seeder civilizations, including mass landings and full disclosure of the galactic community, was imminent; the timeline did not materialize, which Danaan and Salla attribute to deliberate interference by a "dark alliance" rather than to a failed prediction. Ilyumzhinov's account of a 1997 onboard encounter, publicized in interviews from the 2010s onward, and Collier's 1998 broadcast testimony both describe the same withholding logic from that decade. Haim Eshed's 2020 statements that Israel and the United States had been in extended contact with a "Galactic Federation" that withheld open engagement pending humanity's technological readiness were read by Salla as corroborating the contemporaneous Danaan/Thor Han material, though whether the two accounts describe the same body is itself unresolved. Following the 2021 Jupiter Accords, insider and channeled testimony describes preparation continuing toward open contact rather than the event itself arriving on schedule; George Kavassilas stated in 2025 that a "tuning of the solar system" due for completion in April 2027 would be followed by physical open contact, extending the timeline rather than fixing it. The Nine's 1970s timeline passed without the predicted event occurring, and the expectation of imminent open contact attached to the 2021 Jupiter Accords has since been superseded by Kavassilas's later 2027 marker rather than resolved.

Treaty-based postponement

Beyond the readiness threshold, at least one account describes open contact as having been actively curtailed by treaty rather than merely awaited. Corey Goode describes the Muhammad Accords — also called the Maharaj Accords, ratified circa 600 CE among the Orion group, Nordic-type extraterrestrials, inner-Earth nations, and other non-terrestrial parties — as binding the signatories to refrain from open contact with surface humanity after a preceding period of "open contact and sometimes open warfare in our skies." The Anshar, per Goode's account, later broke from the Accords unilaterally to resume more direct assistance to surface humanity, while other signatories remained bound; the full clause structure and party list are treated at Subterranean Earth civilizations and Agartha, which carry the fuller diplomatic detail this article summarizes only as it bears on open contact specifically.
