L-L Research

L/L Research (Love/Light Research) is a non-profit spiritual research organization based in Louisville, Kentucky, founded in the 1970s by Don Elkins, Carla Rueckert, and Jim McCarty. It is best known as the organization through which the Law of One channeling sessions were conducted between 1981 and 1983, producing the five-volume The Law of One book series. L/L Research continues to operate, making the Ra transcripts and related materials freely available and supporting ongoing channeling and spiritual research.

History

Don Elkins had been conducting informal research groups investigating channeling and UFO contact phenomena since the late 1950s, working first in Louisville with a group of amateur researchers. Carla Rueckert joined his research circle as a participant and partner, developing her own channeling ability through years of practice with Elkins' group. Its name — Love/Light — comes from the Law of One teaching that the two fundamental qualities of the One Infinite Creator are Love and Light, which Elkins adopted as the organization's identity.

The three founders operated as a tightly integrated team: Elkins was the researcher and questioner, Rueckert was the instrument (channel), and Jim McCarty — who joined the household in Louisville shortly before the Ra contact began in 1981 — served as scribe and support.

The Ra Contact (1981–1983)

Between January 1981 and March 1983, Carla Rueckert entered deep trance states at L/L Research's Louisville home, channeling an entity calling itself Ra — described as a sixth density social memory complex that once walked among ancient Egyptians and had since evolved beyond physical form. Don Elkins formulated all questions directed to Ra; Jim McCarty transcribed the sessions in real time. The resulting 106 sessions were published as the five-volume Law of One series.

The Ra entity described itself as a complex of consciousness that had graduated through physical incarnation, through fourth density and fifth density, and was now operating at sixth density — a state in which individual identity merges with a broader social consciousness. Ra stated it had made contact with the ancient Egyptians but had withdrawn when its teachings were distorted toward the worship of Ra as a sun god.

The transcripts cover topics including the densities of consciousness, the Harvest, the Orion Group, the veil of forgetting, free will as the paramount cosmic law, UFO history, and the Galactic Confederation. Biological anthropologist Dr. Michael Masters, describing his own contact experience as resembling "deep trance mediumship," compared it directly to the L/L Research method: "I was allowed to ask questions in the same way that people do with this channeling material... the Ra contact, the Law of One is really interesting, and the Q'uo material — there's a lot of individuals who have channeled and... they're saying very similar things about what exists beyond this physical world."

Significance in exopolitics

The Law of One material produced at L/L Research became central to a significant strand of exopolitics and New Age cosmology from the 1990s onward. Corey Goode referenced the Ra material as the most accurate description of the reality he encountered in the secret space program, particularly regarding densities and the Orion Group. Former Stargate program viewer Paul Smith noted the overlap between remote viewing's operational premise and the Ra material's framework of consciousness operating across densities.
