The Ark of the Covenant is a gilded wooden chest described in the Book of Exodus as built by Moses at the instruction of Yahweh to house the stone tablets of the Law given at Mount Sinai. The researcher Billy Carson identifies the Ark as an electrical capacitor and directed-energy weapon connected to a wider Great Pyramid power system, its lethal effects on those who touched it consistent with radiation and high-voltage discharge rather than divine wrath; the alleged secret space program participant Tony Rodrigues independently identifies it as "a power source that powered high-tech stuff"; and U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna, reviewing declassified CIA remote viewing files, reports that the agency treated the Ark as a possible super-weapon worth locating.

No unit has ever been produced for independent examination: the Ethiopian church that claims custody keeps its object permanently sealed and guarded by a single monk, no outside party has been permitted to test it, and the Ahnenerbe's own 1944 claim to have catalogued the Ark rests solely on the word of the SS officers who received it. Carson's capacitor reading requires the Exodus specifications to be read as an engineering schematic rather than a ritual description, and requires the Great Pyramid's King's Chamber granite box — conventionally catalogued as a sarcophagus — to instead be an oversized power coupling matched to the Ark's exact footprint; a plain reading of the same text, by contrast, requires nothing exotic at all, since a wrathful deity accounts for the same lethal incidents without any electrical mechanism.

Biblical description

The specifications for the Ark appear in Exodus 25:10–22 and are among the most detailed technical descriptions in the Hebrew Bible:

The Ark is described as the dwelling place of Yahweh's presence and the point at which he communicated with Moses: "I will meet with you there, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you" (Exodus 25:22).

Electrical capacitor interpretation

Carson places the Ark within a larger electrical generation system centred on the Great Pyramid of Giza: the pyramid generated piezoelectric power from magnetized crystal granite reacting with water flowing in its subterranean aquifer; this electricity was amplified through the Grand Gallery and into the King's Chamber, where the Ark sat in a granite box of precisely the right dimensions — and that box, Carson argues, was the power-source connector.

Carson identifies the Ark as a capacitor that boosted and stored the electrical output, dischargeable as a directed-energy weapon or as a power source for other devices, including a "Manna Machine" that generated food for Moses's followers in the desert.

Physical evidence for the Ark's energetic function, in Carson's analysis, is found in the King's Chamber box itself: a large corner piece of the granite has been sheared off with sufficient force to fling it across the chamber and impact the opposite wall — consistent with an internal explosive discharge of energy.

Carson also reports that students at an American university constructed a replica Ark using the exact specifications from Exodus and found that it generated an overwhelming electrical charge that had to be shut down prematurely — a result Carson treats as corroborating his technical reading of the biblical instructions as a genuine engineering schematic; Carson states this replica is not unique and that "quite a few" have since been built to the same instructions. Carson further states that "there was many, there was a few arks. It wasn't just one" — treating the Ethiopian object, the Nuremberg-catalogued object, and the biblical original as potentially separate items sharing one design rather than a single artifact.

Handling protocol and lethal effects

The transport specifications require the Ark to be carried only by its permanently mounted poles, never touched directly, and approached only by priests in the prescribed vestments — a protocol the text treats as mandatory rather than ceremonial. The consequences of violating it are recorded twice: the "70 men of Beth Shemesh," struck dead for looking inside the Ark (1 Samuel 6:19), and Uzzah, struck dead for touching it to steady it when it slipped during transport (2 Samuel 6:6–7). Carson reads both incidents, together with the prescribed breastplate and garments, as consistent with radiation exposure and electrocution rather than supernatural punishment: "inside of this box is something that has so much radiation... you had to have a specific type of clothing — rubber boots, gloves — to prevent the radiation poisoning. When somebody didn't have it on and they touched the ark, they would become very sick." On the plain reading, by contrast, the prohibition is cultic rather than protective, and the vestments mark ritual purity rather than shielding. No source examined for this article connects Carson's radiation-poisoning reading to the modern record of UFO radiation injuries — cases such as the Cash–Landrum incident and the Falcon Lake incident, in which witnesses near an anomalous craft developed burns or radiation-sickness symptoms of the kind Carson describes — and the comparison itself is not attested to by any source consulted.

Neither reading is supported by a direct claim that the Ark could be levitated or rendered weightless; no source consulted makes that specific claim, and the poles-and-bearers transport method described in Exodus is the only handling mechanism attested.

Weapon and power source

The Ark functioned as a directed-energy weapon in the biblical accounts. During the Israelites' march through the desert, enemy forces who attacked were destroyed by a beam emitted from the Ark, a description Carson aligns with a directed-energy or plasma weapon.

Anunnaki communication device

In the Zecharia Sitchin framework Carson draws on, the Ark's function as a divine communication device — the place where Yahweh spoke directly to Moses — is a radio or quantum-communication technology provided by the Anunnaki faction then controlling the Near East, with Yahweh identified as Enlil, the Anunnaki commander who maintained direct control over the Hebrew people as one of his subject populations. Carson identifies Moses with Pharaoh Akhenaten, proposing that Moses/Akhenaten removed the Ark from the Great Pyramid power system when expelled from Egypt, prompting the pharaoh to pursue him in order to recover the stolen power source.

Ahnenerbe recovery claim (1944)

The Ahnenerbe, the SS occult-research institute directed by Heinrich Himmler, reported recovering an object tentatively identified as the Ark of the Covenant. In 1944 Wolfram Sievers personally led the Ahnenerbe delegation that received and catalogued an alleged treasure recovered from Montségur — described by Sievers's own sources as including items believed to originate from the Temple of Solomon, stone tablets bearing pre-runic inscriptions, and objects tentatively identified as the Ark and the Grail cup — transported under armed guard to Merkers and then to Berchtesgaden, alongside the Spear of Destiny, which the Ahnenerbe held in the same wartime relics portfolio. No independent examination of the Montségur cache's contents is documented, and the identification of any item in it as the Ark rests entirely on the SS catalogue itself.

Current location: Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church claims that the original Ark of the Covenant rests in the Chapel of the Tablet at the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in Axum, Ethiopia, brought there by Menelik I — the son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba — on his return from Jerusalem. The Ark is said to be under permanent guard by a single monk whose appointment is for life, and it is never publicly displayed.

CIA remote viewing documents declassified and reported in 2025 reference an assignment from 5 December 1988 in which a remote viewer was tasked with locating the Ark of the Covenant. Congressional representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) reviewed the handwritten remote viewer notes, which depicted the Ark and described its location in a Middle Eastern country, with angelic figures — interpreted as the cherubim — visible. Luna noted that the CIA's interest indicated the government took seriously the possibility of the Ark being a super-weapon.

In an earlier account, Carson stated that an Ark was discovered at an Ethiopian church approximately nine years prior to his interview, was documented in a subsequent film, and was then stolen within a year of the documentary's production.

Relationship to other Ahnenerbe-linked relics

The Ark sits beside two co-equal relics said to have passed through the same 1944 Ahnenerbe custody chain — the Grail cup and the Spear of Destiny — and beside the broader claim, developed at Concealment of exotic artifacts by religious and esoteric institutions, that religious and initiatory institutions independently hold and conceal exotic hardware outside state or military channels.
