Comparison of exotic propulsion mechanisms
Exotic propulsion devices allegedly employ one or more principal mechanisms based on numerous different technologies for propellant-less spaceflight, which have been described in patents, academic papers, and allegations related to classified programs and UFO Reverse-engineering of exotic and NHI technology. Different physical pathways relate to the fields of electrostatics, superconductivity, inertial, quantum vacuum, and/or metamaterials, all claimed to produce thrust without expelling reaction mass, in apparent violation of Newton's third law as conventionally applied.
Mechanisms
| Mechanism | Physical basis | Key figures | Alleged thrust | Status | Primary article |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Phase conjugate microwave propulsion | Ground-based microwave beam interacting with metamaterial craft via phase-conjugate soliton | Paul LaViolette (from informant accounts) | Allegedly sufficient for vertical launch | Claimed classified (Project Skyvault); no public demonstration | Project Skyvault |
| Alien reproduction vehicle propulsion | 48 radial capacitor sectors, Tesla coil step-up, mercury vapour in partial vacuum | Mark McCandlish (from witness Brad Sorensen) | Allegedly full flight capability[5] | Witness testimony only; no hardware available for testing | Alien reproduction vehicle |
| Repulsine | Copper disc vortex / implosion principle; water or air medium | Viktor Schauberger | Allegedly uncontrolled levitation[2] | Historical claims; no modern replication | Repulsine |
| Die Glocke propulsion | Contra-rotating cylinders filled with Xerum-525; thorium/beryllium peroxides; rotating electromagnetic fields | Unknown (alleged Nazi programme) | Allegedly antigravity + temporal effects[4] | Testimonial (Sporrenberg interrogation via Igor Witkowski); no recovered hardware | Die Glocke |
| EM Drive | Closed microwave resonant cavity with asymmetric geometry; alleged radiation pressure asymmetry | Roger Shawyer, Sonny White | ~1–100 μN (disputed)[6] | NASA Eagleworks reported anomalous thrust in 2014–2016; later analyses attributed to thermal artefacts; Dresden (2021) found null result | EM Drive |

Common features
Despite different physical mechanisms, several features recur across multiple alleged exotic propulsion systems:
- High voltages or high energy densities — Brown's gravitators (150 kV), Pais HEEMFG (approaching Schwinger limit), ARV (extremely high voltage through Tesla coil), Die Glocke (high-voltage rotating fields)
- Rotating or oscillating fields — Die Glocke (contra-rotating cylinders), Searl effect (revolving magnets), Podkletnov (spinning disc), Pais (accelerated vibration)
- Anomalous biological effects — radiation burns near UAP, Die Glocke (tissue crystallization, plant decomposition), Podkletnov (none reported)
- Connection to mercury — ARV (mercury vapour), Die Glocke (Xerum-525, reportedly mercury-based), Vimana texts (mercury vortex engine)
- Suppression or classification — Brown (Navy classification), Skyvault (classified), Podkletnov (ostracized), Die Glocke (evacuated by SS), corporate programmes (1957 silence)
