Adayul
Adayul (also Deyal) is the alleged fourth planet of the Tengur system (corresponding to Trappist-1) in Aquarius, described as a hot and humid world with a rich equatorial ecosystem, two prominent indigenous cultures, and a Tengri-Tengri colony, according to the Encyclopedia Galactica. Atmospheric conditions are hot and humid, with more temperate zones at the poles where the dominant cultures have developed; near the equator the diversity of life becomes, per Elena Danaan, "unfathomable," and this rich ecosystem is protected by the Tengri-Tengri.
Environment
Adayul/Deyal is a humid forest world — its surface dominated by dense vegetation and warm, moist atmospheric conditions. The planet hosts no spacefaring civilisations of its own; its societies are organised but pre-interstellar. The equatorial belt is biologically the richest zone, supporting a density of life described as "unfathomable," and the Tengri-Tengri — themselves native to the Tengur system — have taken on the role of protecting this equatorial ecosystem as a kind of natural treasure. Polar regions are more temperate, and it is here that the Mir-Mir and Morhal Deyal have established their principal cultural zones.
Tengri-Tengri colony
The Tengri-Tengri — a spacefaring mammalian species native to the fifth planet of the Tengur system and active members of the Galactic Federation of Worlds — have established a colony on Adayul/Deyal. Their presence on this non-spacefaring world is partly protective: they guard the planet's exceptional equatorial biodiversity and mediate between the indigenous cultures and the wider galactic community. The Tengri-Tengri's disc-shaped ships and their semi-underground civilisation model make them well-suited to establishing low-footprint colonial outposts on biologically rich worlds.
Inhabitants
Mir-Mir
The Mir-Mir are a 4-foot species that live in villages hidden in the depths of Adayul's humid forests. They are generally hospitable when they receive visitors, but otherwise enjoy their isolation and tranquility, interacting little with the Tengri colonies. Their small stature and preference for the sheltered depths of the forest contrast with the more remote habitation pattern of the Morhal Deyal. The Mir-Mir's village-based social structure suggests a settled, community-oriented culture that values privacy and quiet over contact with outsiders.
Morhal Deyal
The Morhal Deyal are a vegetal humanoid species — the second most evolved culture on Adayul. They are uniquely telepathic and have no constructed habitats, living in very remote areas and not interacting easily with other civilizations that visit the surface. Their telepathic nature and lack of physical construction set them apart from virtually every other culture in the Tengur system. Vegetal humanoid species — beings that share characteristics of both plant and humanoid life — are rare in documented galactic records; the Morhal Deyal are among the few confirmed examples in the Encyclopedia Galactica.
Context in the Tengur system
Adayul is the fourth of twelve inhabited bodies in the Tengur system (Trappist-1, GFW reference F-1342), a system so biologically rich that Elena Danaan notes a separate encyclopedia would be required to do it full justice. The system's small red star (Tengur) lies 39.6 light-years from Earth. Other notable bodies in the system include the third planet N-Nen (Nannu), the sixth planet Marmorat (Marmur), and the seventh planet Eruyya (Yuru-Viili). As in the wider Tengur system, biodiversity on Adayul decreases toward its polar extremes and increases toward the equatorial regions closest to the central star's influence.
The Tengur system's first and second planets became uninhabitable when the star grew more active, dramatically raising surface temperatures; a large number of life forms from those worlds were evacuated to the third planet (N-Nen/Nannu), which best matched the original environment. Adayul/Deyal as the fourth planet occupies a zone further from the star than N-Nen, with correspondingly more moderate conditions — though still hot and humid enough to support one of the system's densest equatorial ecosystems.
Elena Danaan has confirmed in interview that the Trappist-1 system harbours intelligent life and is expected to become a focus of official scientific disclosure as the James Webb Space Telescope progresses through its planned detection sequence of bio- and technosignatures on its planets, noting that in July 2023 NASA's JWST published data on seven Trappist-1 planets with measurements unmistakably consistent with supporting life. The mainstream scientific community independently regards Trappist-1e — the planet occupying the habitable-zone position in the system — as one of the top current targets for atmospheric biosignature detection, with the JWST capable of detecting carbon dioxide and other atmospheric markers through transit spectroscopy, requiring hundreds of transits to achieve meaningful detection. Danaan connects the JWST's selection of Trappist-1 as a target from among more than 6,000 catalogued exoplanet systems to what she describes as the fact that a Tengri-Tengri individual holds the position of Herald on the High Council of the Galactic Federation of Worlds. The Encyclopedia Galactica was introduced to a broad audience in a 2024 Exopolitics Today episode in which Danaan described it as a guidebook to over 150 spacefaring alien civilisations in the galaxy, with the Tengur system — and by extension Adayul — appearing among the Aquarius constellation entries.
