Witness to Roswell: Unmasking the 60-Year Cover-Up is a 2007 non-fiction book by Thomas J. Carey and Donald R. Schmitt, published by New Page Books (ISBN 978-1-56414-943-5), presenting the most comprehensive compilation of witness testimony related to the 1947 Roswell incident. A revised and expanded edition was released in 2009. The book organizes testimony from military and civilian witnesses into a three-site crash framework and includes several disclosures that have since become central to the Roswell evidentiary record, most notably the sealed affidavit of 1st Lt. Walter G. Haut and Frank Joyce's description of Mac Brazel's phone call in which Brazel reportedly shouted "THEY'RE NOT HUMAN!"

The book is structured around what the authors identify as three distinct crash-related locations: a debris field on the Foster Ranch northwest of Roswell, a "body site" (designated the "Dee Proctor Site") where several dead occupants were reportedly found, and a final impact site. Each site receives dedicated chapters presenting the relevant testimony in chronological order.
A central contribution is the Frank Joyce testimony. Joyce, a radio announcer at KGFL in Roswell, recounted to the authors his 1947 telephone conversation with rancher Mac Brazel, in which Brazel described what he had found. The book also details the subsequent FCC threat against KGFL: the station's minority owner received a call from T.J. Slowie, executive secretary of the FCC, warning that should KGFL broadcast any portion of Brazel's interview, it would lose its broadcasting license.
The Dee Proctor chapters document the seven-year-old boy who accompanied Brazel on the morning the debris was discovered, and who reportedly witnessed "something else" at a separate location but refused to discuss it for the rest of his life.
The book's final chapters present the sealed affidavit of Walter Haut, the 509th Bomb Group public information officer who issued the original July 8, 1947 press release. Dated December 26, 2002, the affidavit was provided for posthumous release and describes Haut attending a staff meeting where crash debris was passed around the table, and subsequently being taken by Col. Blanchard to Building 84, where he observed a craft approximately 12 to 15 feet in length and "more of an egg shape."
The authors characterize the Roswell investigation as "the ultimate cold case file," noting that an estimated 90 percent of the military personnel stationed at Roswell in 1947 were unavailable due to death or infirmity by the time of publication.
Significance
Witness to Roswell is widely regarded within Roswell research as the most extensive single-volume witness compilation on the incident. The book's three-site framework — debris field, body site, impact site — has become the standard geographic model used by subsequent researchers. The Haut sealed affidavit, published here for the first time, provided what proponents consider the first testimony from an officer who claimed direct visual contact with both the craft and bodies at the Roswell Army Air Field. The Frank Joyce testimony, including Brazel's "THEY'RE NOT HUMAN!" outburst, has been repeatedly cited as among the most dramatic firsthand accounts in the Roswell record.
The book's methodology — assembling the case entirely from witness testimony in the absence of physical evidence or declassified documentation — was explicitly defended by the authors as sufficient to "prevail in any court case against the U.S. Air Force and its balloon explanation."
