Psi phenomena in UAP encounters
Psi phenomena in UAP encounters are reported paranormal or psi-type effects — including telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, psychokinesis, and apparent memory alteration — allegedly experienced by individuals during or following close contact with UAP or non-human entities. Witnesses have described spontaneous development of alleged psychic abilities following UAP contact, including enhanced remote viewing capacity, precognitive dreams, and involuntary reception of imagery or information attributed to non-human sources. The Defense Intelligence Agency's Project STARGATE is alleged to have recruited individuals with close encounter backgrounds or documented anomalous perceptual abilities on the basis that UAP contact correlated with enhanced psi functioning. The recurring co-occurrence of psi-type phenomena and UAP events is a defining characteristic of close encounter cases, distinct from misidentified conventional phenomena, per Lue Elizondo and colleagues within the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP). Memory suppression or implanted screen memories are a deliberate component of NHI interaction, with psi phenomena used to both communicate and to obscure direct recall.
NHI consciousness capacities
Major Paul Smith PhD, former Army intelligence officer and one of the primary Stargate remote viewers, stated that non-human intelligences demonstrably possess much greater access to consciousness-based capacities than humans: "It's clear that ETs have much more of an entree into using consciousness than humans do." Ingo Swann, the remote viewer who developed the coordinate remote viewing methodology with Hal Puthoff at Stanford Research Institute, held that humans possess latent psi potential far exceeding that of NHI, and that NHI were actively working to prevent humans from realizing this capacity: "He believed that we had latent potential far greater than what the ETs have and they're afraid of us realizing that, and so they're intervening."
Stargate and UAP remote viewing
Paul Smith was retained — under a non-disclosure agreement and through Hal Puthoff as intermediary — to assemble and direct a full remote viewing team to task against the 2004 Nimitz encounter. The operation, which may have been sponsored by the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), involved three gray-walled remote viewing rooms constructed on the model of the Fort Meade Stargate facility, six viewers, three monitors, two analysts, and an administrative assistant, running for a full week. Smith stated that results were required to be turned over to the contracting party and that an NDA restricted his public discussion of the findings.
Joe McMoneagle (Remote Viewer 001, the first person recruited into the Gondola Wish/Stargate program in the early 1970s), was recruited specifically because of anomalous perceptual abilities identified during intelligence screening — Russell Targ and Hal Puthoff interrogated hundreds of candidates before identifying McMoneagle. In six initial test sessions at Stanford Research Institute, five produced first-place matches, described as unambiguous target identifications — the best series ever produced at SRI to that date. McMoneagle subsequently remote-viewed Mars a million years in the past, located hostages, and provided information on classified adversary programs during his 20-year career with the unit.
Psi abilities in Army psychics
Angela Ford, U.S. Army remote viewer 079, who served in the intelligence community for 32 years and was a member of the Army remote viewing unit at Fort Meade from 1985 to 1995, described spontaneous telepathic contact with her sister — transmitting a mental directive not to forget a key, perceiving her sister's physical location and action in real time at the moment the message was received, and recording the time for later verification. Ford defined remote viewing as operationally equivalent to psychic functioning — the methodology, not the faculty, distinguishes remote viewing: "Remote viewing is nothing more than ESP. It's a nice term that the scientists use...if you're trying to get money from Congress, instead of saying psychic."
Psi in abduction encounters
Travis Walton, abducted 5 November 1975 near Snowflake, Arizona, reported that during his time aboard the craft, the beings — despite no verbal communication — appeared to be exercising suppressive mental influence to control his behavior, and that this control failed because the energy discharge that struck him at the moment of contact had damaged the capacity for the beings to initiate it: "Whatever damage occurred probably interfered with any sort of telepathic control or communication... I did not detect any sort of messages or feelings from them." Walton also received a silent auditory implant prior to the encounter — looking out his window at a distant object before it accelerated away, he heard words internally that he later recognized as not his own: "I had the words come into my head that now I realize were not my words that said, 'Everything is fine, it was just a flying car, and no need to tell anyone because they won't believe you anyway.'"
Clifford Stone, who participated in crash retrieval operations for 22 years, reported a persistent telepathic relationship with a non-human being he called Corona — contact that began in childhood and that the U.S. military later identified as evidence of anomalous perceptual abilities, recruiting Stone partly for his capacity to communicate with injured beings at crash sites.
Russell Targ and non-locality framework
Russell Targ, co-founder of the CIA remote viewing research program at Stanford Research Institute and physicist, provides a theoretical framework for UAP-associated psi phenomena through his eight-dimensional complex space-time model: because consciousness is non-local and time-independent, the psi effects reported in UAP encounters — spontaneous telepathy, precognition, memory alteration — are not anomalous exceptions to physical law but expected features of a consciousness that "resides in this timeless space that's available" and whose "accuracy and reliability is independent of distance and independent of time."
Jeffrey Mishlove, whose documented dialogues with program veterans span four decades, has noted that the Stargate Project's private consensus — shared by senior figures including Targ, Puthoff, and McMoneagle but rarely stated publicly — was that the psi phenomena observed in the laboratory were fundamentally the same as those reported by UAP experiencers, differing in degree and context rather than in kind: laboratory remote viewing and field psi activation by UAP contact access the same underlying capacity through different triggers.
Telepathic implant contact
Elena Danaan documents a persistent telepathic contact with Thor Han Eredyon of the Galactic Federation of Worlds conducted through a physical implant placed in her skull by Grey abductors as a tracker device and subsequently re-tuned by Pleiadian rescuers to their own frequency. Danaan's contacts encompass both technology-mediated telepathy (via the re-tuned implant) and what she describes as a direct heart-based empathic connection that operates independently — a distinction she considers significant for understanding the different modalities through which NHI psi contact operates. Danaan also describes her first contact from Thor Han occurring in childhood as purely telepathic — visual faces appearing "behind my eyelids, as if they were in my head, showing themselves to me telepathically" — before any physical or craft-based encounter took place. This sequence — telepathic contact preceding physical contact — is consistent with the broader pattern in psi-UAP encounter literature where consciousness access precedes craft-based interaction.
