Light and plasma orbs are luminous spherical objects reported in connection with UFO and non-human intelligent being encounters, ranging in size from tennis-ball to basketball to car-sized, and exhibiting behaviors that witnesses and researchers distinguish from conventional atmospheric phenomena — including structured manoeuvring, apparent responsiveness to human thought, the capacity to project beings from their interior, and roles as monitoring or escort devices for larger craft.
Physical appearance
Orbs are described as perfectly or approximately spherical and self-luminous, not reflecting external light. Colour reports include white, orange, amber, and occasional blue or green. They are reported at various altitudes from ground level to several thousand feet and travel silently. In the 2007 Chris Bledsoe encounter, multiple orbs ranging from basketball to larger size tracked witnesses' vehicle for miles, crossing in front of the truck and appearing to anticipate route changes.
Plasma physics perspective
Researcher Jason Jorjani, analysing orb reports from CIA and intelligence community sources, noted that plasma physics offers a partial explanation for naturally occurring spherical luminous formations: "Plasma can be used as a non-fission trigger in thermonuclear weapons and it can self-organize if the plasma is dense enough. So you can make a plasma orb just using normal physics." Jorjani distinguished between plasma orbs producible through known physics and the behaviorally complex orbs observed in UAP contexts by intelligence personnel — noting that intelligence analysts encountering plasma orbs are not nuclear engineers and therefore cannot recognize them as a known phenomenon, raising the question of whether the orbs they observe are technologically produced or represent a distinct category of entity.
Orbs as plasma consciousness
Elena Danaan and Michael Salla have described orbs within a consciousness framework — characterising the soul or consciousness itself as a form of plasma being. In Danaan's formulation: "We are conscious of ourselves, we are sentient, and we are also at the same time a plasma consciousness, a plasma being — that goes from avatar to avatar along the incarnations." This formulation — consciousness as plasma-state energy persisting across physical incarnations — bridges the exopolitical and physics perspectives, suggesting that some orbs may be non-physical beings in their natural state rather than technological devices.
Relationship to beings
Multiple experiencers describe orbs as portable projective vehicles for non-human intelligent being entities rather than as craft in the conventional sense. Bledsoe described witnessing shadowy humanoid figures step out of orbs after they arrived at his home, the figures walking through walls — according to Bledsoe, the orb functioned as a materialisation medium. This is consistent with the distinction Elena Danaan and other contactees draw between physical craft and projection or teleportation devices used by advanced civilisations.
Orbs and the MH370 disappearance
Investigator Ashton Forbes analysed leaked military FLIR and satellite footage allegedly showing the final moments of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in March 2014, arguing that multiple luminous orbs appeared around the aircraft just before it vanished — with frame-by-frame analysis by VFX professionals finding no obvious signs of post-production manipulation. Forbes interpreted the orbs as the operating mechanism of whatever removed the aircraft, consistent with accounts of orbs used for large-scale materialisation-dematerialisation events.
Orbs as monitoring probes
Within exopolitics and contactee circles, small orbs appearing at known contactee locations are often interpreted as surveillance or monitoring probes deployed by Galactic Federation of Worlds member civilisations — collecting environmental and biological data on contactees and their surrounding communities.
