The Nine
The Nine (also the Council of Nine or Ennead) are an alleged group of nine non-corporeal intelligences claiming to represent the original nine creator beings of humanity and the universe, first channeled through Indian medium D.G. Vinod in sessions organised by parapsychologist Andrija Puharich at his Round Table Foundation in Glen Cove, Maine, on January 1, 1953. The Nine identified themselves to successive channelers as the Ennead of ancient Egypt — the primordial nine gods of the Heliopolitan cosmology — and described their role as the ultimate authority over the 24 ET Seeder Races and the Intergalactic Confederation. Contact resumed through Uri Geller in the 1970s (again facilitated by Puharich) and through channel Phyllis Schlemmer in sustained sessions attended by figures including Gene Roddenberry and Sir John Whitmore; Schlemmer's records were published as The Only Planet of Choice (1993).
Origin: the 1952–53 Round Table Foundation sessions
Andrija Puharich — a physician, parapsychologist and inventor with connections to the U.S. intelligence community — organised a series of paranormal research sessions at his property in Glen Cove, Maine, known as the Round Table Foundation. On the night of January 1, 1952–53, a séance was conducted with approximately nine participants drawn from prominent American families: attendees included Arthur Young (inventor of the Bell helicopter and founder of the Institute for the Study of Consciousness), his wife Ruth Forbes Payne Young (a member of the Forbes family and a close friend of Allen Dulles's companion Mary Douglas), and representatives of the DuPont and Astor families, among others.
The medium was D.G. Vinod, an Indian scholar and philosopher. Puharich tested Vinod's responses by posing mathematical problems, which Vinod reportedly solved correctly in the altered state. During the session, nine entities identified themselves collectively as "The Nine" — a group described as existing in a non-physical state above the manifest universe, concerned with the development and stewardship of humanity. The entities reportedly materialised thread-like objects, one for each participant, as tokens of connection. These entities subsequently described themselves as residing in a craft in low Earth orbit, and as the same intelligences that would later contact Uri Geller.
Puharich documented these early sessions in his 1974 book Uri: A Journal of the Mystery of Uri Geller, which provides the fullest public account of the 1952–53 contact alongside the later Geller-mediated sessions.
The Nine and Uri Geller
In the early 1970s, Puharich became the principal facilitator for Uri Geller's contact with an entity or group of entities that identified themselves as or affiliated with the Nine. Geller, tested for psychokinesis and telepathy at the Stanford Research Institute by physicists Hal Puthoff and Russell Targ, reported receiving communications from an intelligence he called "Spectra" — a group later associated in Puharich's writings with the Nine. The contacts occurred during hypnotic regression sessions conducted by Puharich and were recorded on tape, some of which were subsequently erased or reportedly erased themselves under anomalous circumstances, a detail Puharich described in Uri.
According to Puharich, the Nine became established as a recurring intelligence accessible through multiple channels over time — the same entities appearing across different mediums, different decades, and different cultural contexts, each time identifying themselves consistently as the Nine or the Council of Nine.
Phyllis Schlemmer and The Only Planet of Choice
The most sustained documented contact with the Nine was conducted through American channel Phyllis Schlemmer across sessions spanning approximately 1974 to the early 1990s, facilitated by British baronet and racing driver Sir John Whitmore and overseen by scholar James Hurtak in early sessions. The entity communicating through Schlemmer identified itself as "Tom" — a representative or spokesman for the Nine, speaking collectively on their behalf.
Tom's communications through Schlemmer described the Nine as supra-physical consciousnesses existing in what Elena Danaan — who later had direct contact with them — described as "the Void": a state beyond dimension, time, and universe, from which the Nine observe and influence galactic development without incarnating. Tom described the Nine as the Ennead — the original nine creator forces of the Egyptian cosmological tradition — and positioned them as the superior authority over the 24 ET Seeder Races that had participated in seeding and developing human life across the galaxy.
Schlemmer's transcribed sessions, edited by Palden Jenkins, were published in 1993 as The Only Planet of Choice: Essential Briefings from Deep Space. The book contains the Nine's extensive commentary on Earth's position within the galactic community, the role of the 24 seeder civilisations, the interference of hostile forces in human development, and the projected timeline for open contact between humanity and its stellar neighbours. The Nine communicated through Tom that 24 civilisations — the same 24 later described by Elena Danaan as the Intergalactic Confederation — were responsible for the seeding of human genetics across the galaxy and reported ultimately to the Nine as their "higher management."
Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek
Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry attended the Schlemmer-Whitmore channeling sessions in 1974–75 and was an active participant, asking extensive questions of Tom regarding the 24 civilisations, their relationship to humanity, the timeline for open contact, and the political structure of the galactic community.
Roddenberry subsequently wrote a film script titled The Nine based directly on the sessions. Researcher Michael Salla and others have proposed that Roddenberry's attendance at the Nine sessions materially influenced the Star Trek universe — with the United Federation of Planets reflecting the galactic federation described by Tom, and the franchise's recurring themes of a humanity at the threshold of galactic citizenship mapping to the Nine's communications about Earth's probationary status. Roddenberry was reportedly told by the Nine that he would meet them at "the other end of the bridge" when the timeline had progressed sufficiently; his death in 1991 preceded this meeting.
William Shatner — James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series — is described in Elena Danaan's accounts as having been selected as Roddenberry's symbolic successor in completing this bridge function, apparently attending a meeting with the Intergalactic Confederation during the 2021 Blue Origin spaceflight that was presented publicly as a tourism mission.
Nature and attributes of the Nine
Across multiple sources and contact events spanning seven decades, the Nine are described in consistent terms.
They are not incarnated beings. Unlike the races of the Intergalactic Confederation — which are physical or semi-physical entities operating in varying densities — the Nine exist in a state described as the Void: a space outside dimensions, outside time, and outside any specific universe. They are plasma-like supra-consciousnesses; individual yet collectively unified.
They communicate by appearing as forms that are psychologically legible to the person contacted — taking humanoid shapes to reduce the disorientation of direct encounter. Elena Danaan, describing her first direct contact with the Nine in 2021, reported that one member condensed from a cloud of golden and silver sparkling light into the shape of a tall green-skinned, purple-eyed being, which she understood was adopted for her comfort rather than being the Nine's natural state.
The Nine are described as existing in a singular contact event that does not belong to any specific point on the linear timeline — each encounter with them is a singularity that radiates effects both backward and forward in subjective time, meaning that a person who has contacted them continues to receive residual impressions across subsequent time. The Intergalactic Confederation, itself a grouping of advanced incarnated races, regards the Nine as its own "higher management" or superior authority.
Distinction from the Council of Five
The name "Council of Nine" also appears according to Elena Danaan in a different and distinct context: as the former name of the Council of Five — a grouping of five elder physical races (Egaroth, Redan, Orela, Emerther, and Ginvo) that predated the formation of the Orion Empire and subsequently became the five-member council of wise races within the galactic structure. This Council of Five was called the Council of Nine at an earlier period when it had nine member species; it is a physical, incarnated governance body entirely distinct from the Nine as described by Puharich and Schlemmer.
The two should not be confused: the Council of Five / former Council of Nine is a physical political body operating within the galactic community; the Nine (entities) are supra-dimensional non-incarnated beings operating from the Void above all physical reality.
Annax of the Council of Five, transmitting through Elena Danaan, elaborated this distinction in a January 2022 communication published in the Galactic Contact Series: "The Nine are not the former Council of Nine preexisting before the Council of Five. These are two very different structures and not related to each other, although the Nine are related to everything." He described the Nine as "a collective of nine higher consciousness dwelling between the universes behind the curtain of all realities," known also as the "Nine Collective," the "Nine Elders," or the "Elders of Light," and clarified that calling them a "council" is a Terran misnomer — "a council is more of a social, political or spiritual structure, part of the created physical reality of a specific culture. The Nine were always existent in a place that they themselves call the Void. This place exists, although it is uncreated."
The Hurtaks and the Nine
JJ Hurtak and Desiree Hurtak, who worked with Andrija Puharich during the 1970s contact period, subsequently confirmed in a 2022 interview on Exopolitics Today their understanding that the Nine represented what they termed "the nine principles of life" — "positive principles" — and connected them to the "nine archangels" or "nine avatars" of various spiritual traditions. In the same interview, Michael Salla drew attention to the parallel between Phyllis Schlemmer's published accounts of the Nine and the 24 extraterrestrial civilisations and the contemporary accounts from Elena Danaan of the Intergalactic Confederation's return, asking the Hurtaks directly whether the moment for the 24 civilisations to reveal themselves had finally arrived — to which JJ Hurtak replied, "I would say definitely this is the time."
1970s contact and temporal disruption
The Nine communicated through Schlemmer's sessions in the early-to-mid 1970s that the moment for open contact between humanity and the 24 seeder civilisations was imminent — that mass landings and full disclosure of the galactic community were expected in the near term. This expected timeline did not materialise. According to accounts from both Elena Danaan and Michael Salla, the failure of the 1970s timeline was the result of a temporal war waged by the dark alliance — the forces aligned with the Alpha Draconian Empire and other negative factions — who, upon perceiving the Nine's plan, acted to disrupt the timeline and abort the contact program. This disruption extended the wait by approximately fifty years.
The Nine communicated through Danaan in 2021 that they had returned — that both they and the Intergalactic Confederation were re-engaging humanity on the now-restored timeline, and that the bridge (Star Trek) they had embedded in human collective consciousness in the 1970s had served its purpose of anchoring the intended future.
