The Taal are allegedly one of four main humanoid races originating from the Man system (Kepler-62), the cradle of Lyran humanoid civilization 1,200 light years from Earth. Both A Gift from the Stars and Encyclopedia Galactica Volume I (both sourced from Thor Han Eredyon) describe the Taal as one of the four "Master Races" of the Man system. Their homeworld was Oman Khera ("Man central power"), the third planet and seat of the Man system government — a monarchy presiding over a council of 25 and an assembly of 300 senators. The Taal display a greater diversity in skin, eye, and hair colors than other Lyran races and are pacifist and spiritual, with a strict code of ethics.

The Lyran Wars

During the Lyran Wars — in which, as Encyclopedia Galactica Volume I (sourced from the GFW Excelsior database via Thor Han Eredyon) records, the Alpha Draconian Empire devastated the Man system "in what would be remembered all throughout the galaxy as the dreadful Lyran wars" — the Taal government concluded an agreement with the invading Draco reptilians to allow an evacuation in exchange for unclear arrangements. The royal family's destination was later found to have been diverted to Mirza (Beta Canis Majoris) in the Orion zone rather than Vega, revealing what appeared to be a pre-arranged deal with the Draco reptilians.

Colonies

Taal colonies spread widely across the galaxy, including: Temer in the Pleiades (Taygeta); Vega; Terra; Elfrak Daal (Lyra); Wolf 424; Katayy (Sirius A); Ashkeru (Sirius B); Araman (Tau Ceti); Zenae (Andromedan systems); and Mirza (Beta Canis Majoris). The Venusian Taal colonists — who renamed themselves Naari after their planet Naara (Venus) — have lived underground on Venus for so many generations that they no longer identify with the parent Taal of the Man system. According to Val Thor, conveyed through Elena Danaan: "I am also of the Taal race from the Man system. My ancestors have been living now for so long on Venus, that we renamed ourselves Naari: Venusians." Encyclopedia Galactica Volume I (sourced from the GFW Excelsior database via Thor Han Eredyon) adds additional Taal-descent colonies, including the Ottüri of Andromeda — who fled during the great Lyran exodus due to Draco reptilians raids — and the Kharriel of the Sharagola system (Canis Major), who retain Taal genetic descent and cultural heritage. The same source adds that a small Taal colony also settled in Auriga, having arrived from the Procyon star system; under the protection of the Galactic Federation of Worlds, this colony has frequent skirmishes with the indigenous Min Tu. Part of the Galactic Federation of Worlds, the Pleiadean Taal colony on Temer plays an active role in the liberation work for the Taal people. The Taal and all Lyran-origin races follow the Lyran dietary tradition of plant-based food; Danaan confirmed in a 2021 interview that all higher-frequency Pleiadian-lineage races are "vegetarian or vegan."

Taal in the Pleiades

The Taal's Pleiadean colony on the planet Almar (in the Taygeta system) was established after the Lyran Wars dispersal. Danaan describes the Taal as "very proud" and competitive, "consider[ing] themselves as royalty" — a cultural trait that generated internal friction. A breakaway faction of Taal dissidents, resentful of the Ahel who had received the larger planetary allocation, split from Almar and migrated to the Alcyone system (also written Alcon), where they terraformed their own planets and later allied with the Nebu Orion grey–reptilian network for protection, granting the latter a colony in the Alcyone system in exchange. This renegade Taal colony — referred to as the Taal-Shiar — requested protection from the Nebu and in exchange permitted a reptilian colony in their system, aligning the Alcyone Taal against the Galactic Federation and against the Taygetan Ahel. The Taal-Shiar's human appearance — physically indistinguishable from Terrans — makes them effective infiltrators; Danaan notes that "they look like us, you can't tell the difference," and that they are known to work with the cabal on Earth and to have been involved with the Nazi–reptilian project in Antarctica.

Taal diet aboard Solar Warden

Corroboration for the Taal/Taygetan plant-based dietary practice comes from Darryl James, a former Solar Warden serviceman who claims 17 years of service alongside Taygetans. James described the USS Sims — a four-kilometer-long Solar Warden vessel with a crew "in the thousands" — as having approximately one-third of its interior dedicated to hydroponics. The Taygetans, he stated, "believed in a fresh food that [was] a big part of their long life" and ate "fresh fruits and vegetables" supplemented by a blue liquid high in proteins and amino acids; when on-world rather than shipboard they also ate fish. No food-manufacturing machines were used — the Taygetans deliberately chose fresh cultivation over replication technology.
