Ultraterrestrials
Ultraterrestrials are the category of beings posited by the ultraterrestrial hypothesis — entities whose origin is held to be "closer to home" than the distant star systems of the extraterrestrial hypothesis. The term was coined by the investigator John Keel in 1970, who used it to describe the intelligences behind UFO and paranormal phenomena as native to Earth's own environment, or to spaces immediately adjacent to it, rather than visitors from other planets.
On Wikipedia, "ultraterrestrial" merely redirects to the interdimensional UFO hypothesis.[citation needed] Here the term is given its broader, umbrella sense: the class of beings whose origins are local to Earth or its immediate dimensional and temporal neighborhood. So understood, ultraterrestrials span interdimensional beings, cryptoterrestrials (a hidden population sharing the planet), and future humans who have traveled backward in time — all of which are contrasted with extraterrestrial beings proper, who are reportedly arrivals from other physical star systems.
Because the ultraterrestrial framing brackets together origins that are interdimensional, subterranean or otherwise concealed, and temporal, it functions as one of the standard top-level options when classifying UFO occupants, alongside the extraterrestrial and breakaway-human categories.
